Extra Credits and The Escapist Site

If Extra Credit isn't resolved and happy with the resolution I'm gone from this site, the bookmark is deleted and I will never come to it again or support anything associated with it.

If you can't treat good hard working people the right way then I won't support you, when Congress does this I vote against the person doing it, when a website does it I don't support them.

I'm sure the mods or administrators on this site will take this down quickly even though it is not against TOS or anything other then my offer my opinion and a call for action for those you do business with to be treated right.


If Extra Credit is gone because Escapist won't pay them I say a large group of us leave, if you agree feel free to discuss here but please do leave out of respect for the fine people that do Extra Credit and don't support someone that does not fulfill there contractual obligations.

I had just set this site to my home page, but now I'm tempted to leave forever. First the captcha "here to stop bots" bullshit (I've never seen a single spam bot here) and the insane number of ads. The only way to stop those is to pay the Escapist each month? And then they started using video ads that we have to watch instead of captchas? I felt bad calling this site greedy, but there is no way I possibly could say they aren't now...

I have read this and the other threads about the same ordeal. I know the escapist made a wrong move, but that's no reason to get overly mad.

When they refuse to pay the people that make the content for the site and then demand donation money set aside for a surgery???? That is a good reason to get mad. If we don't get mad and tell the Escapist this is WRONG they won't get the picture.

While I can't blame the Escapist for the CAPTCHA system or Advertisements, since this is, you know, a FREE website, I am furious if James' side of the story is accurate, and the Escapist wasn't willing to pay and then asked for the money that was meant as a donation. I don't know if I'll leave the site forever, but I'll sure as hell come less, and occasionally catch up on old series. I can only hope that some of the bigger names on the site (Yahtzee, Bob Chipman, Jim Sterling) are willing to take a stand on this as well, since they have something in common with the Extra Credits team.

This is downright incredible. I really don't know how anyone justifies this, it makes me think of how Yahtzee described the Umbrella Corporation for being overly evil. Trying to steal donation money for a talented artists' career-saving surgery is like... Saturday morning cartoon material form the '90s or something. It's literally unconscionable. I don't get it.

I don't think anyone is THAT angry that Extra Credits is gone. I mean it was a nice show but like you said, there's other shows.

But straight up thievery? Taking $15,000 in donations that were given specifically set aside for a surgery? Not paying them for their work? That's what's pissing people off, not that Extra Credits is gone. The whole story has yet to come out, but as of now it's looking bad for The Escapist

So we're forbidden from even mentioning the word ad-blocker because of lost revenue for the Escapist, and when us normal members complain about intrusive ads, ads in captchas, etc, we get told to "just pay for pub club" while all this time the Escapist wasn't even paying its content creators with this ad and pub club revenue? Seriously Escapist, what the hell.
