The challenge is to find a new F2P FPS for me to play.

Here's a few titles I actually remember playing:
A.V.A. (UT3 engine, played it to death)
A.P.B. Reloaded (UT3 engine, gun and car mechanics are sub-par)
Parabellum (low playerbase, so-so game mechanics)
War Rock (hackers)
War inc (3rd person)
Battlefield heroes
Battlefield F2P (BF2 clone)
Crossfire (hackers)
Combat Arms
TF2
Blackshot
Genesis AD/Blacklight Retribution
Assaultcube
Sudden Attack
Soldier Front
S4 League
Wolf Team
Global Agenda
Hedone
Crimecraft

First games that come to mind are Tribes: Ascend and Blacklight: Retribution

Tribes had been mentioned already and you've messed with the others I know so the only other one I can say is ShootMania. It's it Beta right now but you can sign up for it on their Website [http://www.shootmania.com/]

Oh and Planetside 2 [http://www.planetside2.com/?cid=1063137] which is an MMOFPS but still awesome as hell.

Thanks all, I guess I'll take another look at Blacklight anf Tribes, and a new look at Shootmania.

Just to clarify, although I own TF2, I never played it much, I'm not a fan of the mechanics or aethetics of the game. I have nothing against class FPSes, but I like damage and guns to be psuedo-realistic (so fairly high damage/low health), and pretty realistic graphics (ie non cartoony).

Of all the games above, I played War Rock the longest, I like the pace of CQC battles on there, the gun/damage mechanics and even some of the bugs ("roll to reload"). That said, a few things did ruin it for me (evenutally, the widespread use of hacks), and the fact that the game designers wouldn't fix the lean bugs (in the original Korean version of the game people just get kicked for using them!).

Well I have Global Agenda, and a lot of people from that migrated to Tribes; that said I'm not sure it's really much of a shooter - GA wasn't, really - 1 hitbox and pretty basic gun mechanics.

As per Blacklight, I've tried it, I think; it's was ok, I'm not a huge fan of futuristic shooters though.

TF2 and Tribes are the best out there imo.

Last I looked PS2 wasn't out yet (I did play PS1 for quite a while, though it's not up on the list - it wasn't free at the time!), but thanks for remining me of it!

I'll take a look at ShootMania, any comments on it would be good as well!
