So, earlier Lionhead released this teaser trailer:

and later confirmed that Fable and Fable: The Lost Chapters is getting a HD re-release for the X-Box 360!

So, what do you guys think? Me, I'm stoaked since I never got to play the original and I really wanted to, plus it looks really good.

I did enjoy the original and I never got the lost chapters expansion so depending on the price I may just pick this up.

Still think they should add the features that Peter Molyneux promised like growing trees and seasons the lying toe-rag.

Hopefully in the process of remaking Fable, Lionhead will learn why the first game is better than the others.

It's a shame all they are doing is prettying up the graphics though. This game could really use the Resident Evil 1 Remake treatment.

So they're giving it the Halo Anniversary treatment? Well people did say the original was the best, may just check it out.

Yeah, I picked TLC up for sale over Christmas on Steam so this just seems pointless. The graphics don't bother me one bit.

Seeing this, if they see that this is better than 2 and 3, it would be good to see more like it.

I don't trust them with that kind of creative freedom after what they've since done with the franchise.

Eh, I got bored with it the first time around. Finished it once, tried to replay it, got to the Arena bit and suddenly lost interest.

The game was good for a chuckle when it was being lighthearted and making fun of itself, but went sharply downhill whenever anything actually happened.

The whole game was just so... inconsequential? Shallow? Uninspired? Yeah, that's a good word for it.

Now port Fable 2 for the PC, then we can talk.

Also, prettying up the graphics isn't always a good idea. From those screenshot, it seems there will be a lot going on in the background, while the style of the original meant you didn't miss anything essential.

It better still have the S H I T easter egg in it! That made me chuckle when I found out about it. Immature maybe, but still funny.

But I might look at picking this up when it comes out, it was probably my favourite of the 3 main Fable games, so I'd like an excuse to go back to it, and play the Lost Chapters stuff for the first time too.

You know what at this point I am highly skeptical Lionhead can even do a remake without fucking up completely.

Honestly, Fable is pretty much an objectively awful game. Repetitive gameplay, a standard and predictable story, choices have no meaningful consequence, and incredibly easy to break.

Even so, I have a lot of good memories about how charming it is and I've replayed it many a time so it's good to see it get more attention.

What is this easter egg you are speaking off?

Also from what I heard 1 is generally regarded as the best one of the series.

Fable 1 was decent, but the second one was bad. Just.. bad. It had NO respect for itself. For the most part, it seemed like a game for eight-year-olds, but then there's sex, decapitations, STDs and prostitutes.. What was their target audience? Didn't bother playing the third one.

There's this part in the story where you have to spell something using these stones that are designated I H S and T. However, if you choose to spell SHIT, it sends a couple of balverines at you.

I laughed before I got ripped to shreds.

Ugh more Fable and its a remake of the first which I admittedly found the best but its still utterly lacking. I have my original copy and can still play that if I wanted, which I dont the game was a disappointment it was certainly playable but it was pretty paper thin depth wise and very unsatisfying.

I like some of the humour but for me Fable is done as a series without serious re-invigoration which would be best spent on a new IP anyway.

Honestly, had you lowered your expectations (or had Peter not been such a braggart), you probably would have loved the game. I am normally very picky about my Fantasy RPGs, and the first Fable was right on. I later read what all the game was supposed to be, and I can understand why so many people were disappointed, but it is still great deal better than Fable 2 (and light years better than Fable 3).

I for one am looking forward to this, it will be a great way to show my GF why I don't like 2 and 3 very much. On top of that, I've always had fun just goofing off in that game. I will probably try for a full boast game.

One was good. Not great, but good. It was novel at the time, and as others said, amusing. I still have the original so no point in buying just a graphics update.

The others I bought as well and always had high hopes for, but they never were very good. I won't buy it unless they improve the gameplay and story somehow. I miss games that actually get me invested in the characters, and where choices do affect the world.
