Yesterday I failed my driving test. The woman failed me cause of a crossing where there were no cars and a clear way, since she thought there was not clear sight and therefore a dangerous situation. I could clearly see there were no cars in sight and no cars behind me.

So my question is; have you experienced similar unfair events at driving tests?

When I took mine, my "judge" if you will actually pulled out a tape measure when I parallel parked to see if I was close enough to the cub. I failed the whole section because I was a half inch too far for her specs. I understand the sentiment but I feel like that is a bit extreme.

It wasn't a driving test, but the first time I was tested for a shooting range license I was failed for putting the safety on while waiting for the instructor to give me the next instruction.

He later told me that he actually just used that as an excuse; he had only failed me because it was my first time taking the test.

Honestly, if he hadn't been holding a rifle when he told me that....

Anyway, yes people testing you can get really snarky at times.

I failed for speeding (going 40) - It was in a country lane...With no street lights. So I thought it was sweet but turns out it was a tarp, would of passed had it not been classed as residential - "It catches people out all the time."

My friend failed cause he couldn't work the fan whilst driving.

Hit and Run. That's how I failed... (just kidding)

No, I passed without a trouble. Although I was kind of nervous.

My brother failed because he drove across a railway crossing after the train had passed and the boom gates were up but the lights were still flashing. Those flashing lights with a clear road across were an instant fail. Also a friend of mine failed his because he went over 40 km/h in a school zone (50km/h otherwise on a non school day) on a school day. The twist is that it was school holidays. So the judge was in error and they refunded my friend and he got the license later that day.

If I had bothered getting past my learners I might have a failure story.

I failed first time for not stopping long enough at a stop junction. Apparently you are supposed to put the hand brake on and if you've done that, then you're good to go. I breezed it second time though and every one knows that the best drivers pass second time.... Right?

It took me four tries to get my licence, in hindsight the instructor was right in failing me the first time. The second I failed because some woman drove her bike of the sidewalk and my instructor thought I didn't leave her enough room, I still insist I left her plenty of room (in other words nothing too spectacular).

The third time however I was failed for "het te correct toepassen van de regels" which translates to "applying the rules too correctly". How am I supposed to react to that? Didn't I speed enough? Not enough red-light running? Killed too few children?

You must understand, driving tests are done under *VERY* strict conditions, when doing the test treat everything as if it were worst case scenraio and do everything by the book. Sounds incredibly stupid yes, but they enjoy ripping you and me off.

EDIT: I take that back, after reading what the last guy posted i was like "WHAAAAAAAAAAAA".

I didn't look entirely over my right shoulder while turning into the DMV parking lot.

However, where I live, they'll usually fail you on your first go unless you are exceptionally careful.

Yep I got failed on my second test when I was apparently too close a cyclist and he thought I didn't even realise. Which is bullshit on both counts.

I wouldn't worry about failing though, took me 4 tries, I'd pretty much lost all hope by the fourth one!

That's so fucking weird that's pretty much exactly what happened to me on my second test. Had four minors besides that and I thought I'd passed - was not a happy bunny when we got back and he failed me!

I have no idea, i passed first time (yes im a jerk)
Same here but I was lucky enough to get the most lenient instructor at the center, apparently.
I fucked the theory up three times though.

Hang on...
You failed because you did what you were taught to do?

Mine took me to a gravel driveway on a road with no lines or curb to back around a corner. Failed me because I was too close to the "curb" with the car filling 2/3 of the lane. They also docked me 6 points for not turning right on a red light (perfectly legal in my state,) she said I was "holding up traffic," you know, the zero cars behind me.

I had a friend fail his test for, and I shit you not, turning on the radio.

I just got my license the other day. took me three times to finally get it. The first time the failed me for going 5 mph over the speed limit. And the other time they failed me because the examiner was having a bad day.

Oh really? A friend of mine failed for the exact same reason, school holidays and all, and she certainly didn't get a refund. Interesting... maybe she should have complained more.

As for me, by some miracle I managed to pass first time. And it really was one hell of a surprise to me, I have a... rather nervous disposition and learning to drive was frankly the most stressed out I have ever been, ever. Yes, I know it's nothing for most people, but I'm not most people.

Yeah my friend is one of those hyperactive types that will get really loud and aggressive when annoyed. It's hard to ignore him.

Pretty much, yeah.

I really came down to two moments.

The first was at a trafic light, a long line of cars wanting to go right or straight, no cars for going left (the way we were going). However due to those other cars I couldn't go into the left pre-sort lane without crossing a solid line, so I didn't.

The second was a few moments later. Someone was stopped in the middle of the road loading/unloading some stuff, I didn't pass him due to oncoming traffic (I could have passed but I would have had to speed).
