I just cannot figure out what to do. I could barely get past the first dungeon in the game, and now i'm just wandering around in some town. It gives me goals like "Find Vic the Trader", but I can't find him. I'm not asking for help, just-

Did anyone else have this problem, where you were insanely confused at the beginning of the game? I'm probably just used to Fallout 3's "Hold your hand" approach, but, I just can't figure it out.

Yeah. Fallout 2 is fucking hard. Really. I've died about 4 times because of those damn scorpions. And the guy at the end, I cannot get past him. Also, you have no supplies, so I hope you put an assload of points into your medicine skill, because there is no possible way to heal other than that.

I miss games like Fallout 2. Having played games like it All the new games are WAY to easy.
Heck sometimes I sit there for a While looking at a Easy answer, Refusing to take it because it was to easy. It had to be a Murderous trap or something.

Don't get me wrong, I respect a hard game. But this game isn't hard, it's just udderly confusing.

The tribe elder tells you where to find him. It's really simple. If you can't manage that then you should just give up because there's no way you'd find NCR never mind Vault 13.

Methinks that's the goal initially. I mean consider this: You're playing a tribal native who's never left his village and who's suddenly trust into the outside world at the behest of his mysterious elder. He's equipped with a spear and knives wandering into a world full of guns, drugs and slavery.

Confusion sounds about right to me.

Don't worry though, it'll fade eventually as you become more familiar with the gameplay and your character becomes more capable. My suggestion? Just explore and have fun, plus don't be afraid to run if you encounter things tougher than you. This ain't Fallout 3 where everything scales to your level, nope, there are enemies and creatures wandering the wastelands that'll destroy a newbie character without even batting an eyelash. Brutal.

Makes it all the sweeter though when you run into em a second time, but now you're wearing power armor and wielding a minigun. Bye Bye baddies!

The first two games got the feeling dead on. I love fallout 3 to death, but you really do feel like some hero who never really meets anything they can't overcome.

It can be a tough game to play if you haven't played this type of game before. Talk to everybody and don't drop an important item(for example hard drives). I had re-play most of the game because I dropped a hard drive that was needed for the end of the game.
