I bought Fallout 3 thinking that it would follow what it says on the box and be a first person shooter, but to my surprise, it wasn't, which is good on my standpoint because I suck at FPS games to begin with. All in all though, it's storyline is SUPERB, there are some plot holes in that HOW can my character carry three Laser Gatling guns at once without having some sort of teleportation device in his pocket but I don't really mind it because the entire storyline completely makes you sympathize with your character and makes it all the more hard to not force your main man to kill everyone in Megaton with the atomic bomb sitting right in the middle of town. Which the game explains its existence being that Megaton is actually a crater formed by an airplane off to bomb a nearby country and thus, the entire town is filled with overly hate-able eccentrics who refuse to disarm the bomb because of a nearby cult worshiping the thing. At this point I need to ask the audience: is it just me, or is it that you'd have to receive blunt force trauma before you'd worship the atomic bomb? Then again, since the town was formed by a plane crash, I guess it's possible. These are just a few things that are wrong with the game but I'd like to point this out: there WERE a few times when the game just froze with no warning apparently because I wasn't wearing the right color socks that day or maybe it's that my PS3 is in its last stages of its life, I don't know, but if your PS3 is like mine, then I suggest saving A LOT because it honestly just happens with no lag before it, it just stops.
Now I believe that it's time to talk about the actual game play and this is what I've got to say, it honestly plays like a RPG, Fallout 3 is a shooter game the same way Left 4 Dead is a Horror game, IT JUST ISN'T, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, well maybe it is if you were expecting something like that but if you were the Halo 3 playing, Gears of War ogling FPS enthusiast then this game just isn't for you. I've heard Yahtzee's rant about VATS and I say I disagree completely, it honestly amused me to such a degree that I completely forgot I was playing a video game and thought I was watching a movie, then I had to smack myself and pick up my controller. The time line is something I found a bit odd at least from a technological standpoint. Also, I don't usually talk about the graphics in a game, but since I like them, they are glorious at least by my standards and when you stand on a particularly high hill at sunset looking at the D.C. hillside, it makes you stop and look it's so beautiful. All in all, this game deserves its high rating and I say buy the game if it wasn't already bought and played by you.

This doesn't count as a review, it feels more like a poor rant.

Agreed, and about one third of the paragraph isn't actually on topic. Also being able to carry three Laser Gatling guns isn't a plot hole, its just convenience. And worshipping a nuclear bomb, which has been around longer then you, by a good 150 years does make sense, when you think about the type of place the Earth has become. And lastly, just because your PS3 wasn't playing it properly isn't the games fault...

On a side note, I despise people that say "All in all", in any part of something, that isn't near the end. In your case, the beginning of the second sentence...

It really makes no sense to me that people complain about a character carrying too much equipment because it's not realistic, specially in RPG's (I'm saying this because of the gatling laser example). It's just a game, besides, Fallout and Oblivion at least allow to store you're stuff in crates and lockers. Also it's not the first time that a sci-fi tale includes an atomic bomb worshiping cult (Beneath the Planet of the apes did that 40 years ago) so that's nothing to be surprised about.

I do agree with what you said about how the story line makes simpathize not only with you're character but with others as well (good or evil). All in all, I'm glad you enjoyed Fallout 3, it was without a question last year's best game.

This review lacked structure. Also, I would have to say that Fallout 3, being made by Bethesda, as well as being the third game in a series of RPGs, and advertising V.A.T.S. on the box, doesn't try to trick you into thinking its not an RPG. The PS3 problems you speak of have been acknowledged and a patch is on the way. The game takes place about 200 years after the 1950s, when the nuclear war first broke out, so time and motive for growth in technology exist. Please do a little more research before your next review.

You know what man, fucking wall of text. Use the fucking enter button, becuse this is like reading a huge amorphous blob of poor quality hate. This is not a review, you barely talk about anything, and considering its Fallout 3, you do fail to bring up a lot of points about this game.
Hey hey no need to be so rash. I do not understand why people say its a hate mail he said it was a good game at the end and said you should buy it and we all know its the dough that counts in the end.

Nice review and you should have touched upon game play a bit then it would be fine. This was a bit more of a commentary instead of a review. (See how i said commentary instead of "WALL OF HATE" or "RANT". Constructive criticism people)

Use the magical enter button to make paragraphs. You can elaborate more on the game, like explain the VATS system or the graphics. I will expect better reviews from you in the future.

fallout 3... personally i have to say i dislike the game...a lot.

i have three main problems with the game.
firstly the game is too gory. yes i said it too gory. it is unrealistic in its gore. it gets ridiculous when people get blown to pieces with a small caliber gun. then with any rifle a headshot results in a cranial explosion. in all reality a riflewound would result in a small hole. then there is the "invincible torso" problem. personally my favorite gore system would be a modified version of brothers in arms: "hells highway"

secondly there is the whole gameplay problem. the game is clunky and fells like a drag. when running in third person your charachter doesnt run, the ground moves under him. the third person camera is next to useless due to not being able to aim and the crosshair being off center. plus the whole game feels like oblivion although the graphics are gorgoes.

finally there is the moral system. it is, in short, pants-on-head-retarted. there is either "kill everyone" evil or "pure" good. the diolouge system is complete crap as it is the exact same one from oblivion. nothing actualy makes you feel sorry for anyone and there is no reason to be good or evil.

in conclusion i dislike the damn game. its to damn "unsurviveorish" for my tastes. it tried to do a fpsrpg and i beleive it failed at it. its too simplistic as a rgp or as a fps. the weapons all look the same(i mean like named weapons) and healing is way to easy. when you can heal a broken leg with a click in the middle of battle i think it fails as both.
sure vats is awsome the first hundred time but halfway through the game it just gets repetative.
[/rant]

edit: oh yeah and op put some enters or sometin like that

If you want a more realistic survivor game, grab STALKER and stop worrying about Fallout.

i love stalker but is it too much to ask a post-apacolipsic survival game that has the fallout touch. (which bethesda also messed up)
