After finishing the Dead Money DLC I looked up on the The Fallout wiki some things I thought were strange and hinted to this next dlc. If you listen to the stuff that Christine says, she mentions the courier who "bore the flag of the old world on his back..." and I heard God say of the battle at the Divide where each courier will have a message for each other. This led me to an article on a npc named Ulysses. Low and behold he world the old flag on his back. After this I travelled to the Canyon Wreckage marker on New Vegas and on various pieces of rubble were writings that hint more to this next DLC. *Spoilers..maybe* They are "The Lonesome Road" "Courier Six?" (The player, it is believed that Ulysses was the courier who declined the Platinum Chip after seeing Six's name) "The Divide" (a area mention by Johnson Nash to have alot of storms) and finally "You can go home Courier." I find the messages quite odd and would like to know what my fellow Escapist's (or at least those who love New Vegas) what they think on this and what could happen. P.s Bethesda has confirmed a "Lonesome Road" DLC but no other info has been given other that its name.

Ulysses was originally planned to be a companion in the game, but was removed after they decided his backstory was way too much.

Hence, them building to him getting his own DLC... eventually.

It may be a few DLCs away, but it's all gonna culminate.

He is also on one of the playing cards that came with the Collector's Edition. I spent half the game wondering who that guy was until I finally broke down and looked him up.

Anyway, shit's gonna get real when the showdown happens.

Dunno if I'll bother with it. Dead Money was ok but that collar mechanic was a complete game ruiner, and it was too linear.

I miss Fallout 3. (goes and plays Fallout 3)

Collar was absolutely terrible, I lost my head so many times I lost count. I wonder what Ulysseses would've been like as a companion running around with his giant flag pole. And also I do miss Fallout 3......I miss Three Dog.

I'm quite excited about the new DLCs and while we're on this tangent about Fallout 3 as well; I guess the open world never appealed to me and I disliked the story a lot. I tend to go for a more linear plot [though not linear to the extent of FFXIII] and one that's tight and well written. Fallout New Vegas and subsequently Dead Money both did that for me; thus I'll invest in the next DLCs when they come out. I'm excited to see how they turn out.

I think that Dead Money was a slower, something to keep us entertained before Bethesda launch the "real" DLC´s. Or maybe they want to gain money with this to finance the DLC´s to come.

Edit: Please forget what I said, it was before actually playing the DDLC. I think it has is flaws, but it´s great. My dick move.

I liked Dead Money, complete change of pace, wandering the wasteland gunning down everything with huge amounts of superior firepower was getting boring. Come on Bethesda, you made shivering isles, you made operation anchorage, now you can make us something truly awesome!

Lonesome road is going to be coming out after honest hearts which they will be releasing with a patch (you still need to buy it though the DLC not the patch).

They need DLC like Fallout 3, especially a DLC that lets you keep playing after the main story, its just annoying, I HATE GAMES THAT DO THIS, it puts me off them... *Sigh* It would be better...

also DLC like that Swamp one, agghhhh I cant remember the name of it...

Point Lookout.

I never played the FO3 DLC. I'm considering getting the NV stuff though; I don't own Dead Money yet but at least it's not just more of the same - or a new area to loot (haw haw).

Helps having a job now that I have the money to at least consider it...

Alright, I signed up just to comment this so here i go. I miss Three Dog, and Operation Anchorage so I went out and re-bought fallout 3. Three Dog is really fuckin annoying, but he's better than the Mojave Radio pedofile they got working there. It ticks me off because their not making add ons that extend the ending, Point Lookout sucked, the collar on Dead Money wanted to make me blare the radio and put one on myself, and I think Ulysses was supposed to be the Legion companion. We got some from NCR (Boone), FOA, some robots (ED-E really is my love. I want to build him in real life and have him as a pet), more NCR, Brotherhood, the whole gang. What I really don't like about New Vegas is that the Brotherhood of Steel has such a diminished part in it. I'm used to going through the DC ruins and kickin Enclave ass with my power armor. The Brotherhood made a fuckin Citadel out of the pentagon, but in this game they can't even take on some NCR pricks with a solar powered super weapon. They hide like rats in the sewer. Im not going to go religous or anything, i dont sacrifice lambs to my computer but the diminshed role just makes me mad.

PS-The ghost people on dead money are real easy to kill with bear trap fist, but they still scare the shit out of me. One comes in my home im leaving the country.
PSS-why are the gold bars at the end so heavy? dead money takes FOREVER and its challanging, i should get more than 3 gold bars before im over encumbered.doesnt make sense to put that many if you can only carry 3. Signing out is the Fallout Guru, peace and radioactive fire wherever you tread.

UPDATE-I guess the weight of the bars doesnt matter since by the time I go there I already have enough caps to buy the Gun Runners whole stock and then some. And Robert House, the man who invented all the robots that try to kill me and go AWOL....you think im not gonna kill him? i open up that antechamber and pop a forty four into his wrinkly tucas. Cocky old man...elijahs a psychopath.

I really liked Dead Money, it was a change of pace, had interesting well written characters and an interesting location. The loot wasn't amazing, but it least it didn't break the game like the Fallout 3 DLC did. Dead Money really made you feel vulnerable, not like an unstoppable badass like you usually feel at that point in the game.

Wait, so instead of just adding a bunch of random crap like Fallout 3's DLC, New Vegas's DLC is like a segmented story?

Holy crap, now I'm interested.

Well yeah, the epilogue for Dead Money's companions mentions another Courier that your character will meet. Also there's some graffiti in the game that foreshadows it as well. I like how they're going for a story arc.

The Brotherhood's diminished role in this game as compared to Fallout 3 is because the Capital Wasteland Brotherhood were radical, following an Elder who decided that he should help the wastlanders, while the Mojave chapter followed the Codex to the letter. As a result, they are xenophobic and dogmatic to the point they are willing to let themselves die off before they try to communicate with the outside world or bring in new members. They lost HELIOS One because the NCR has significantly more manpower than the Brotherhood has firepower.

Gold is heavy, 19.3 g/cm^3. You're used to other fictional sources that forget that fact. Those bars are there as part of the theme of Dead Money: greed leads to the destruction of self and others. Father Elijah mentions several times that the other scavengers he's kidnapped always turned on each other to take the treasure for themselves, and he himself tries to dispose of you after you open the vault.

"P.S." means "post-script," so another one after would be "post-post-script," "P.P.S."

The addon "Dead Money" was slow and painful to play. All i wanted was the guns and armor and to get out. The addon "Honest Hearts" was fun to play and I went back to it many times after I finished. My question to you is,"Which addon do you think will be better"Old World Blues" or "Lonesome Road"?"

Clearly I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed Dead Money. I found the collars to be more of a challenge than a real inconvenience. I enjoyed the story lines and the characters as well. Frankly, I enjoyed Dead Money more than Honest Hearts. To me, Honest Hearts felt as though it were missing something. It didn't have an epic feel to it and I found myself losing interest in the story line as it progressed. I liked the idea of meeting The Burned Man (Joshua Graham) but in the end, I felt he fell short of greatness. Speaking of falling short, Honest Hearts felt really short to me. I finished it in no time. I did like the fact that you could come back to the DLC zone after you had completed it (something I wish you could do with Dead Money) but, honestly, I never wanted to return. There was really nothing left to come back to once the main quests had been completed.

Back to Dead Money, as far as the Gold Bars go, before I went into the vault I dropped off most of my gear in an empty suitcase by the front entrance. At the Vault I grabbed as many gold bars as I could (around 6 or 7). Then I went to the Hologram Vendors and exchanged the heavy Gold Bars for the weightless Pre-War money. When I got back to the Mojave, I sold the Pre-War money for quite a large sum of caps.

It's hard to say which will be better but, from what I've seen, I think "Old World Blues" is going to be more of a fun light-hearted DLC whereas "Lonesome Road" appears to be a more serious story driven DLC. I'm looking forward to both but I am hoping that "Lonesome Road" is the New Vegas "Broken Steel" add-on and continues the story after the 'official' ending.

I can't wait for it, the fact that these DLCs are actually story orientated and not just loot quests makes them so much better.

I'm also in that minority that enjoyed the hell out of Dead Money; the story was great, the characters were interesting, the setting had good atmosphere and the way it connected with the Mojave and the other DLC was fantastic.

Can't wait for Lonesome Road, I remember looking at that playing card for the first and spending ages looking for this so called "Ulysses".

I am happy to say Old world blues was good. It was about as long as honest hearts maybe shorter.
