That's right folks, here's a little taste of the opening cinematic from Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas, set to be released on October 22nd.

With about a month to go, until the next Fallout-game is released, the some of the games opening scenes have been released on the interwebs!

WARNING! Video may contain story-line spoilers!

EDIT: The last 40 seconds are edited in, as far as I can understand, and it is NOT a part of the real trailer!!

It lasts just about 3 minutes and shows us
an abandoned and desolate Las Vegas, fenced in barbed wire and protected by snipers, hiding behind the iconic Las-Vegas sign. After which, a mobster shoots our protagonist and buries him

Further proof that this game is going to eat my life.

I got goosebumps when I heard that familiar string swell play in the background.

I thought it was basic information that Las Vegas is owned by one person, which is likely why it is sealed off (like Tenpenny Towers). But it's still looks good. I can't wait to play it when it comes out.

There was a disturbingly noticable lack of Ron Pearlman. Either way, the next month or so of waiting has just become that little bit more difficult. I cannot wait to get my hands on this game.

Absolutely. As it has done so many times before, at least in my case!

The only thing that makes me nervous about this is the lack of lack of people. That was part of what made Fallout 3 great. It was *mostly* just you and the Capital Wasteland.

But I am optimistic about this.

You know, looking at this trailer again... the characters look like dolls. They remind me of the characters from the Toy Story 3 movie to be honest. Maybe that's going to be fixed, but it looks really weird.

This game fixes alot of the things I hated about Fallout 3, which otherwise I thought was a good game, so yeah I think it'll be good.

the city wasn't directly bombed so most of the structures were intact and the hoover damn provides energy.you'll learn in the game why it wasn't attacked directly

So I guess your main character is Wolverine? Or a robot? Or something that lets him survive being shot in the head and buried alive in the Nevada desert for a month? Anybody wanna tell me what the deal with that is?

They can't tip their hand THAT much! We'll have to wait for release to hear "War. War never changes." in a new context.

People in games are quite capable of surviving gunshots to the head. Just ask Zaeed as well. But on a more plausible note, I recall hearing a real life account of some unfortunate soul who managed to survive having a railway spike shot through his brain. Who knows what state he was in, but I guess it just shows these things can happen.

Though the shorter explanation is "It's just a game".
