so i play for PC and i have to press x to mod guns but whenever i press x it opens my pip boy, so when its open already it switches to status, I've tried rearranging key mapping to no avail.
I've searched Google as well as several forums extensively but haven't found a bug like this recorded, it's been omni present my entire 10 hours of gamplay. does anyone have any suggestions?

oh and ive tried updating and installing dlc.

If its a Fallout game, the answer is usually mods.
Sorry I can't be more specific, I don't have FNV for PC yet but based on my xp with F3 on the PC, you can probably find some good mods on the nexus that will streamline all that for you.

Never heard of a bug like that and I've played New Vegas extensively. As GonzoGamer said your best bet is to get a mod to fix it. If you have any other mods that may be interfering with the game as that has happened to me before with Beyond Boulder Dome.

Did you try reseting the key mapping to default? It sounds like your key mapping isnt saving, I can't remember if Fallout requires an "Apply" to save setting changes or not.

You might try making a new character and seeing if they have that issue as well.

could you suggest a mod? I've been browsing the nexus, but as I'm sure your aware there are a lot.

I believe Project Nevada is supposed to be a bug fixer but I could be wrong. The only bugs I really had were my faction reputations disappearing which caused some issues and the game crashing when I went to certain areas. But it turned out that it was Beyond Boulder Dome that was causing them so I disabled it. Haven't played my New Vegas in a while though, should really get back to it.
