what ive noticed with all generation of consoles (i.e nes,genesis,ps3,360, sega cd, etc.) you have these idiots who think one console will dominate all of them, when really each system is good in it's own respects and of course there will be technical problems with all of them. i feel that the wii is a good casual gaming platform, ps3 with the 6 axis motion sensetive controller is good for racers and i only own a 360 but im not a fanboy because ive played wii and ps3 over at a friends house a few timebut i like doing 360 for shooters because i rarely need to look at controls because i have this abillity to just automatticly know what do. but i want to know what you each system is best at and why without adding fanboy opinons

I fixed it for you.

See how much easier it is to read?

...no...it still hurts.
Ahem.
Periods are your friend!

I think the only "need" that is fulfilled by fanboys is that of a company.
If they can get a bunch of rabid supporters, they are much more secure financially.
The rest of society, however, has absolutely no use for them.
Because burning people is not an approved method of energy generation.

As someone who is trying to start up her own gaming culture store, I can see all the reasons in the world for fanboys. And that doesn't put the rest of them above gamers, anyone who enjoys these products, the games or any of the paraphenalia probably had the fanboys to thank for keeping that product afloat.

There's a difference between a fan and a fanboy. Fans are good and serve a purpose, fanboys are just useless.

I think he means "fanboys" in a sense of the kind that will rip your head off if you disagree on their stance in the console war. Not the kind that really enjoy a video game series, faults and all.

What do you think sells consoles and exclusives regardless of quality?

While I do acknowledge the difference between fan and fanboy, as I am a fan, what is the boundary? You know, what purpose? I feel like I'm losing it.

No, and never. Fanboys are just kids who can only have one console for Christmas and the need to have the feeling that they have the best thing, so they just lie to them selfs and bash any other thing to satisfy that nagging thought in their head that they may not have the best thing.

also welcome to the Escapist ( I WIN)!

360: Good for anything multiplayer.
PS3: Good for anything single player.
Wii: Good for anything your parents might be interested in.

People have opinions. Some of us are just able to express ours without calling everyone else a fag. Its how society is.

I suppose the definition/boundary varies from person to person, but my idea of a fan is someone who enjoys and supports something and possibly offers input on how to improve it, while a fanboy has more of an addiction to that something and is rabid in his defense of said something, while not really being objective or open to other ideas at all.

I respect Sony as a company and the Playstation as a console. Microsoft fills me with irrational rage, but that's largely because I'm a Mac fanboy in addition to a Nintendo fanboy, and it's filled me with irrational rage since I was seven.

In any case, there is never a need for fanboys. We just sort of accrue, like barnacles on a ship's hull, gleefully adhering to the side and never thinking about how we might be harming the cause to which we're so utterly devoted. Thankfully, we fanboys get scraped off far less often, and usually not by the people who own the ship. Er, company. Sorry, got lost in my own extended simile for a moment. :p

I'm surprised anyone cares enough to make a thread about this. To each his own, live and let live.
