The knowledge that I am completely inconsequential in the universe - nothing more than a small drop of paint on the bottom rung of the ladder of existence. To know that there unfathomable, uncaring, amoral, incomprehensible forces who are so more powerful in every convievable fashion that they could end our entire existence in the universe before any one of us took notice that anything was going on out there.
To know that the second I die, another tiny little, pointless light will pop out and be taken up by the darkness of the yawning gulf of oblivion.

THAT is far more awful to me than death - to know that while I live, I am nothing and could be reduced to a lowly, mindless slave by alien intelligences any second.
Then die.

I don't know if this Is it's proper name, but Locked In Body Syndrome. Where you become a living statue, unable to communicate with the world outside.

A more fantasy answer would be the ending to I Have No Mouth And Must Scream, which takes the Above syndrome and ramps it up to eleven.

Losing the one I love most; To lose those that I have loved. To lose those that love me.

It's all the same anyway. When one loses their faith and direction towards the future; And they lose what gave them the strength to survive the day; They lose the most important thing to all humans. Hope.

When a human loses hope, nothing is worth anything anymore. A human loses it's will to fight, and day to day life becomes harder and harder until they are eventually overrun and die.

I suppose if there was one thing I want more than anything in the world, it's "hope for the future".

It's weird but that exact notion elicits a completely different response from me. I completely get where you're coming from, but my immediate reaction is roughly "Screw that, I'm in this for me". I'll eventually be forgotten so feck it, I'm going to enjoy myself and make my life and those around me as fun and happy as can be. Since I/We will be forgotten in a number of years, who cares what others think? As long as when I do die I can look back and say "yeah, that was a laugh" I'll consider it mission accomplished.

Although when you think about it, your point is mentally jarring to say the least.

You don't need to die to know this.
We all suck and we're all insignificant, its quite easy to understand, but for some not easy to accept.
Personally I accepted that the fact that I along with everyone else will likely not contribute to any real meaningful thing, and if we did we wouldn't be alive to see it, a long while ago.
I'm not sure what my fate would be, maybe a full realisation rather than just an understanding of how insignificant we are?
Or my worst fate would be knowing what being dead would feel like before I die.

On a lighter note your profile picture is awesome.
Isn't that the Lateralus album cover?

Hmm, being concious while cryogenically frozen is pretty bad, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that enlightening someone as to their true significance within the universe, having them comprehend it, and then letting them go is probably the fate I'd least like to be a victim of.

And the fate I've come closest to being a victim of.

Trapped in a room with Misa Armani having a screaming conversation with Tidus.
Without Tidus that would be heaven for me :/

OT: Nothing in the world could make me want to die. I would rather live to be the most insignificant person in the world, then die.

Being alone forever. Trapped with my own insane thoughts. Never being able to see anyone else, speak to anyone else, etc.

Couldn't handle it. I may hate people, but I don't hate every individual person on the planet.

Well, fair play to you, mate.
I'm just a big pessimist!
