As the title implies I just want to know what your favorite classic game is. I don't have any fare way to define classic so I'm leaving it up to the poster. If you think quake 4 is classic? so be it. (wtf? it's like 5 years old)

My favorite is Legend Of Zelda A Link To The Past. Pokémon Yellow and Bionic Commando both came close but Zelda is a simply superb series.

Tony Hawk Skateboarding 1. It was just so awesome, and challenging for somebody new to gaming. (Me.)

PokeMon for the gameboy.
They're still the best games ever.
Ok, I love me some Pokémon but we both know that there have been better games since they first came out on the Game Boy.

I used to enjoy Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, and Crazy Climber in the arcades back in the day. For classic console titles I would say Air Diver on the Genesis or D&D Treasure of Tarmin (think I spelled it right) on the Intellivision.

While I was raised on the Atari 2600 (and was quite the fan of Activision's "Frostbite") I didn't really get into home gaming until the NES came along (mostly because we were poor and I didn't have another home console until the NES.)

Fave classic home-game: Metroid (NES), I played, and played, and played this one. Close second is Bionic Commando (NES)

However, I was a child of the arcade era as well and there were so many games that sucked away quarter after quarter from my weekly allowance (and my dad's laundry money pile.) Hands-down, despite my love for games like Qix and Berserk one has and always will stand out.

Fave classic arcade-game: Asteroids (arcade). Nothing like the steady increase of the beat (especially sweet if the cab's been upgraded with some good speakers) as more and more rocks drift towards their destruction...or yours.

Ah, nostalgia. The two games that I will say I loved as classics are Pokemon Red and Super Mario World. I kind of cheated on SMW though, since I didn't have a SNES (no matter how badly I wanted one), so it wasn't until it came out as a GBA port did I get to play it. Fantastic games though.

On a slightly off-topic note, I started playing classics ported to handhelds since I've been at college without my consoles. I finished SMB3 (very fun), and wanted to tackle A Link to the Past next. Anyone know if the "Link to the Past Four Swords Adventure" is actually a port of the original game? Because I remember Four Swords as being some weird multiplayer Zelda game, not the classic.
