My favorite foreign bands are pretty much all Japanese bands.

My top favorite Foreign Band would have to be Maximum the Hormone. I love that band. They're so awesome. Their lyrics, the guitar, drumming, singing, everything about them is epic.

Foreign?

Most of the bands I like are foreign, like ones from the U.S. and the U.K. so those.
I don't really have a concrete favourite though.

Sigur Ros (Iceland, post-rock), [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWiJWLiSKro] Rammstein (Germany, heavy metal), [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jRklZatZjg] Mogwai (Scotland, post-rock), [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLFd6k1BHDk] Boris (Japan, sludge/doom/heavy/progressive/thrash metal, ambient, drone, and some more), [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ld0jEcFUFko] Tenhi (Finland, neofolk), [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ti7AGjvGcn0] and The Church (Australia, progressive/space/standard rock) [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bHSvzbEe0k]. Among a few others. But, those are my favorites, depending on my mood.

My favorite foreign band has/had to be the Jimi Hendrix Experience, although calling it a band is perhaps stretching it a little- let's face it, Hendrix is the main attraction.
It remains to this day one of the finest examples of blues-rock guitar ever.

Most of my favourite bands are from Scandinavian countries. Something about the cold and frostbitten north that inspires the darkest, vilest metal out there..

To be fair though, the music scene in my home country is a bit stagnant :/

America? How exotic!

The point of these threads isn't actually to post your most favorite band from a different country. It's to one up each other in musical obscurity/sophistication without overtly seeming like hipsters. It's about looking worldly and such.

In that vein, I present Airys:

Probably DDT, from Russia. Though if we're talking all time, there's no question it's Kino, also from Russia and basically the country's own version of the Beatles. Russian rock exploded because of the latter.

Apocalyptica qualifies as well. Where Russian music sometimes merges symphonies and rock groups for the sake of music, Apocalyptica just merged the genres themselves.

This makes me reminisce about my youth. Not that I was suicidal as much as they are Australian! Around the same time I started giving bands nationalities. Do you know how hard it was back then?! My parents didn't get internet until 1998! And back then I upgraded my parents' computer with a 56k modem! Upgraded to a 56k modem! Using Napster with 56k would take the entire day for a few songs. Bah, you kids got it easy. Get off my lawn!
