I've been somewhat bored lately and need something to play. Unfortunately I don't have much cash and consider myself to have some moral fiber so I need some free games (browser, freeware, etc.) to keep me occupied.
So how about it Escapists, post your favorite free games here.

If you can find <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.194259-Off-Topic-Reviews-Ragnarok>Ragnarok on an abandonware site (I think Home of the Underdogs might have it), it would be time well-spent, since it's now freeware.

Assuming you like roguelikes.

Hey, it's another of these threads! If you like RPGs, the best freeware game I've played is The Spirit Engine 2. It's better than the vast majority of RPGs you have to pay for. Available here [http://www.thespiritengine.com/tse2-download.php].

Survivor: The Living Dead. A 2D zombie survival game with a focus on forward planning. Survive 7 min of real time to beat the first mode. You will probably fail.

Also:

Urban Terror, a free FPS in the Quake III engine.

A huge collection of game mods, such as The Hidden Source for Half-Life 2.

Rebuild, a zombie-strategy game where you need to (you guessed it) rebuild a zombie infested city. Runs in-browser using Flash.

If only I could find players for Dead Nation and hadn't beaten Quest For Booty in a day. But whatever, they're still cool.

Let's not go too deep in the Flash Games archive. They've been around for forever and there's thousands of them. Maybe make a separate thread for Flash games?

DustArma[]Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Tyrian 2000.
Wolfenstein: ET is the single best freeware FPS available. Hands down. Or at least it was when i played it in highschool when it was relatively new. If its still active i say get it, because its an outstanding game.

League of Legends is a great free game, but it is highly competitive, has a legendarily bad community, and has a high learning curve if you're new to the moba genre. Definitely my favorite online game right now though. It's also "free" in the sense that it's a game financed by micro-transactions. So the "free" game really isn't so free if you want to get the full effect of the game.

my 2 cents.

I really like Super crate box. Lots of mindless yet frustrating running, jumping, and shooting.

Dungeon fighter is also pretty decent if you like a streets of rage kind of feel

I've been playing Maplestory on and off for the last 6 years. Whenever there is a lull in game releases or my income, this game has always been there for me as a last resort.
