The title say the question.

I don't like point and click games at all from a gameplay perspective. I just find their gameplay to be utterly uninteresting and I think it messes with the pace of a good story.

but I would still highly recommend the longest journey for anyone who finds point and clicks boring to play since it is best point and click I ever played. The point and click gameplay is still shit like ever other point and click I played. This games even has the occasional moon logic puzzle [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MoonLogicPuzzle], such as the puzzle that involves the rubber ducky. I was told the designer who came up with that puzzle was not on drugs when coming up with the solution, it would surprise me.
I used a walkthough to get though the gameplay as fast as possible so I could just get to the interesting part of the game faster. the story and writing the interesting part that makes playing thought game worth while.

the longest journey it would in among a list of the best stories I have ever seen in a game. If I was to make a top 5 list for the best game stories I played though in my whole entire life, the longest journey is on 3rd, maybe 2nd on the list. It does not beat planescape torment on the list but just being on that same list with planescape is a great complement to the game's story when coming from me. Most games the I find to have good stories are not close to making that list.

At any rate I now want to play dreamfall the longest journey and after that dreamfall chapters when there is at least 2 or more chapters out. I already know to expect a massive cliff hanger ending in dreamfall the longest journey so I am prepared for it. Also I will not have to wait years for the squeal like many other people did since it already exists. I like the worlds the first game took place in so I want to learn more about them or at least spend more time in them. You could say I will be just playing it for the journey... that was a terrible pun.

I generally hate the medieval fantasy genre, but I fucking LOVE the Souls games. I think a big part of that is the fact that the worlds are really unique rather than the normal "Tolkien ripoffs" that are comprised of human, dwarves, elves, orcs, and some great evil. I cannot get into Dragon Age, or Skyrim, or any of that stuff because the worlds just seem so bland and uninspired to me, but I can't get enough Dark Souls.

oh this is an easy one, I typically despise first person games, and I also typically despise shooters that are multiplayer only, I mean, fuck that shit.

that said, TF2 is quite a bit of fun, and short of their not being that many straight up CTF servers that have revolving maps (a.k.a. team deathmatch), I come back to it every few months and still enjoy it greatly.

Elite Beat Agents

I suck at rythm games, I have zero interest in musical games, I don't particularly care for anime, so why the hell do I love this game so much? It makes no sense. By all rights I should hate Elite Beat Agents, yet instead I played the shit out of it till I'd beaten every difficulty and unlocked everything there was to unlock. Even just typing about it now makes me want to go find the game and play another song, it makes no sense I tell you, NONE!

Dreamfall is pretty good. It's got some wonky issues with trying to decide whether it wants to be a 3rd person action game, a puzzle game, or a point & click which results in it doing none of those genres very well and the ending really is disappointing (Although a lot of that disappointment is now alleviated by having a sequel. Just needed to wait around 8 freakin years for a continuation to what was at the time a massive cliffhanger! Gah!) But those complaints aside it's more Longest Journey. It's no spoiler to say April returns plus a new memorable protagonist in the form of Zoe Castille, the setting is as interesting as ever, and even today the visuals hold up alright.

Dreamfall Chapters has also been quite good so far. We're only one episode in but it was damned solid and I loved every minute of exploring the cyberpunk setting it gives you to wander. I have high hopes for future episodes. Hopefully you'll enjoy as well.

F-Zero and Mario Kart when it come to racing game.

I generally find racing game to be boring (just follow a track and come first) but the theme in F-Zero and Mario Kart can offset it enough for me to enjoyed it due to F-Zero sci fi theme and Mario Kart items.

Yes I know other racing games got theme too but "Rally" or "F-1" are not good themes (I don't need realism, I just want fun)!!

I'm a JRPG gamer, mainly, but there are a few games I play from Genres I dislike.

TF2 for shooters.
Kingdoms of Amalur for Western RPGs.

I don't like fighting games. However, Super Smash Bros. is always enjoyable.

You would probably enjoy Dragon Age: Inquisition then. It reminded me a lot like Kingdoms of Amalur

Oddly enough, despite loathing pretty much every other game in its genre (except Awesomenauts :D), Dota 2 has become one of my favourite games.
Pretty much every other game is P2W trash, a LoL clone, riding the band wagon or made by devs that just seem dodgy to me. The odd, ramshackle nature of Dota 2 appeals to me with the weird mechanics and non-standardised character skill sets. It feels like something that was built up over time with passion from dedicated people, not churned out to please the shareholders

Boring History Time!

Dota 2 was the first game of its genre I played. I was interested in getting into the genre and chose Dota 2 over LoL for 3 reasons:

first was the business model: I hate grinding with a burning passion and I hate external buff collecting in round based multiplayer games, like CoD's unlocks. So yeah LoL loses out big time on that.

Second, was the artstyle. In the 3D art course I was taking at the time, we were give the Dota 2 Workshop Art guide to look over. I loved the simple, yet not un-detailed blocked out colours, the focus on silhouettes and the contrast between the brightly coloured heroes and the de-saturated map.

And finally, because Dota 2 is a Valve game. I am a massive Valve fan (though these days that almost seems to be a crime on the internet). I like all of their games that I have played. I even like Steam (hur-dur DRM hur-Dur) because of how convenient and easy it is to use. Plus I jokingly thought to my self when I bought Dota 2 (this was still during the beta and I didn't trust the key bots and was to impatient to wait) that even if I didn't like the game, maybe my 30$ would speed up Half-Life 3's development. XD

MOBAs, I loathe MOBAs. But I love Heroes of the Storm.

Heroes of the Storm would be my favourite game from a genre that I absolutely despise. The focus on PvE objectives and critical team battles that can turn the tide of the match several times in a single round makes the game exceptionally fun and satisfying. Where in other MOBAs the best strat is to YOLO for maximum personal glory and hope you can carry your team to victory, everyone in a team on HotS shares experience and levels up together. Add in the option to obtain mercenaries, golems and even mini-bosses to join your team and you have a really exciting game to both play and watch. The talent system also makes for a far more interesting and flexible system than items and upgrades where one wrong purchase ccan leave you with a gimped character for the rest of the game.

"Dislike" is probably too strong a term, but to cite some examples:

-Not fond of fighting games, but the 'Soul Calibur' series was the exception, how weapons were integrated into the combat. Also 'Super Smash Brothers', but I'm more inclined to consider that more of a platformer/fighter hybrid.

-Racing games are something else I'm apathic about, but Kart-esque games and F-Zero were exceptions.

I can't stand sports games, but Blood Bowl is pretty awesome. It being Warhammer helps.

That is, until RNGesus fucks you over with dice rolls.

First Person Shooters aren't my best gaming genre, and I often suck at it, but the Resistance series I enjoy a lot. Although I haven't played Resistance 3 yet, the first two were enjoyable and fun for me.

When I first heard that TellTale was making a point and click game, I thought it was hilarious, and it was going to be a disaster. It was only when I heard how much praise that it was getting that I realised I was wrong. I picked the game up just after the 5th episode came out for Season 1, and I fell in love with it almost immediately.

I have always liked fighting games, but I have never been good at them. Injustice: Gods Among Us just seemed like the first fighting game where I actually felt like I was quite good at it. I would never play it online though.

I tend to find racing games to be really boring to play, but MarioKart and Burnout: Paradise are very good exceptions to this rule. It seems that I only really like the "silly" racing games. I wish that I had picked up Blur whilst I still had the chance.

A few good ones have already been mentioned, such as Mario Kart for racing games and Super Smash Bros for brawlers.

Another one that comes to mind for me is Golden Sun. I'm not really sure why, but it's almost one of the only JRPGs I've actually finished, even though it's a standard JRPG in most ways, albeit a well made one. For some reason the package as a whole just works for me with that particular game.

I generally hate sports games, but I enjoy NBA Jam (lately, the on fire edition) series, and Blood Bowl.

I guess sports games take themselves too seriously, so seeing something so out of the norm can help make things appealing.

That's about the long, and short of it.

I don't really like RTS games all that much. But I do like Divinity: Dragon Commander. The RTS elements are rather bare bones so maybe that's why I like it. Well, that and the ability to make choices and see the different races reactions to what choices I've made.

Crisis Core was one of my favorite games on the PSP, and that's coming from someone who hasn't really had a JRPG to be patient with (Plus it kind of irks me whenever I see "RPG" and there isn't a character creation option, it's a bad habit I know).

I mean the most mentioned attraction from people I know being Aerith kind of left me unfazed since she was just....well........there, but she wasn't very interesting from what I saw of FF VII either so eh (Not an attack on anyone that likes her, just my opinion). But the combat was rather interesting to say the least, so I had a rather "unique" time with it. Plus I could get in to Zack's chilled out Highlander motto thing he had going on (P.S, do not by any means go for the English version, I'm not against Dubs because there are plenty good ones (AoT, DBZ, Hellsing, etc.) but god this one was just so god damn cringe-worthy to listen to, go for a subbed version of the Japanese version if you want to know what they're saying).

Also, dat Price of Freedom track
