this thread shouldn't need an explanation :) - just post which movie bad guy is your favorite and why ;)

mine is Hans Gruber(alan rickman) from Die Hard ... he is very calm and very evil at the same time, and the part where
- he pretends to be one of the hostages
is awesome imo. :D

Jigsaw - from Saw.
Especially the part where
You realise that he is the dead body and he stands up from the middle of the room.
That sends chills down your spine

He's an singing, dancing, bisexual mad-scientist alien transvestite who just wants to be loved.
It's like every kind of villain rolled into one, but with music!
You win.

However, for me it's Hans Landa. So cold, calculating, and collected. And HE KNOWS ALL.

Frank Booth from David Lynch's Blue Velvet - that man is evil incarnate, and in many respects is the perfect movie villain. He's a sadistic sociopath, a sexual fetishist, and a woman-beater with a severe oedipus complex. There is absoloutely nothing redeeming about his character, and yet his character is so admirably complex and well-developed.

Star Wars exists, and thus the obvious answer is Darth Vader.

Of course, since Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children exists, Sephiroth technically counts. So I'll call it a tie.

Batman's Penguin! Oh, I thought you asked for the shittiest movie villains.

Then I'll go with Bullseye from the Daredevil movie. The movie itself was pretty average, but Colin Farrell did a really good job and had the best lines too.

As far as characters go, Iago from Othello is my pick. I would like to see Christopher Walken's version of the character.

Everyone think's he's a great guy, but he's utterly insincere and manipulates other people to do terrible things. He's so good at it that everyone trusts him, even as he abuses that trust and the things people confide to him. He does it all for his own advancement. Even when he's busted, he offers no explanation and expresses no regret.

Just in film - Max Cady (Robert de Niro) in Cape Fear. He's a violent criminal who enjoys taking his revenge on his old lawyer (Nick Nolte's character) through a variety of methods, but in a way he's sympathetic and more likeable than the "good guy". After all, had his lawyer done his job, Cady wouldn't have gone to jail, and wouldn't have come out looking to even the score.

Vin Diesel in Pitch Black. Not exactly a bad guy so much as the ultimate poster-boy for the anti-hero.

Hannibal Lector. Soooooo evil, i love it. The combination of intellectual and brutal murderer is somewhat chilling
