*snip*

*sighs*, Son, I am disappoint.

As for my favorites, Little Shop of Horrors, Avenue Q, or Dr. Horrible.

Bam (I'd post footage of the play itself, but none of it looks or sounds good enough to serve justice to how awesome Avenue Q is)

Boom

Hoping to see Evil Dead the Musical whenever it comes near my area... hopefully some time soon.

I was in LES MISERABLES two years ago. Aside from that, it's story is heartbreaking in an awesome way, the music is beautiful, and it was one of the biggest selling Broadway productions of all time.

So much Dr. Horrible love here.

On a side note why has no one tried to do a musical game? Not a music game like Rock Band but a game where the cutscenes and dialogue are played out in song. I would play it.

Last year I was part of a High-school production of "A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum"(I was a technician, not an actor). I actually loved that play after the initial distaste for having show tunes stuck in my head. As it turned out the tunes were really great and the actors were cast near perfectly for their roles. I think it turned out well and I had a lot of fun doing it, so yeah it's one of my favorite musicals.

I am currently wearing a Captain Hammer shirt, so you can probably guess.

However, I loved Spamalot and We Will Rock You when I saw them live. I need to see more musicals.

I haven't really seen many musicals, but I do love them, and would love to see as many as I can. I love musical films, including The Phantom of the Opera (I'd love to see what in the West End, along with the sequel Love Never Dies), and Sweeney Todd. And I have something of a passion for stuff by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Regarding musicals I'd love to see, of particular note are The Lion King, Les Miserables, Cats (though sadly it's no longer in the West End), and Wicked.

As it happens though, I've only seen two musicals in the theatre, and only one of those was in the West End. I went to London to see We Will Rock You, the Queen musical, with my family (it was the first time either me or my brother had seen it, and my parents' second time). And in our local theatre, I went with my family to see Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Both of those musicals, I have the music of now on my laptop. We bought the Joseph soundtrack years before actually seeing it, the touring version, and we had the We Will Rock You soundtrack after my parents saw it for the first time. I'm actually going to see it again this summer, a touring version rather than in the West End again, and have the tickets bought already. Such an amazing production, and a very fitting tribute to Freddie Mercury (which was one of the reasons it was originally produced by Queen, not long after Freddie's death).

Anyway, here are some of my favourite songs from these musicals, and others:

Repo! The Genetic Opera and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog are eternally battling it out for my number one favorite.
I also love Pirates of Penzance.
Does Prince of Egypt count? Don't care much about the religion involved, but that music was the shiiiiiiit.

Singin' in The Rain
The Music Man
Fiddler on the Roof
HMS Pinafore (which is an Operetta- close enough to being a Musical)

It's an animated movie with music numbers, like many Disney films before it.

I loved the plot, story and visuals of Repo,! but, I wasn't too impressed with the presentation . . .

My favorite, though . . . has simply got to be Southpark: Bigger, Longer & Uncut

They kind of did. Rock of the Dead for the Wii was a musical zombie adventure starring the musical stylings of Rob Zombie and voice talents of Neil Patrick Harris and Felicia Day fittingly enough.

More on topic though, I just can't take musicals seriously enough. Two of my favorites are blatant parodies of the genre:

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
South Park: Bigger Longer, and Uncut

And the recent movie adaption of Chicago is great because the song and dance numbers are completely separate from the action of the plot, thus creating an awesome mish-mash of story and metaphor.

Now anyone who's looking for a wicked awesome opera needs to look no further than The Protomen:
