People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey... stuff.

"Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."
-- C.S. Lewis

"If the brain were so simple we could understand it, we would be so simple we couldn't."
-- Lyall Watson

?Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion.?
-- Steven Weinberg

"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires."
-- Susan B. Anthony

"We are going to die and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here."
-- Richard Dawkins

"By all means let's be open-minded, but not so open-minded that our brains drop out."
-- Richard Dawkins

This is from the latest doctor isn't it?
I like how even the show has evolved and become a bit more kid orientated, it still has some brilliant writing sometimes.

OT: I wouldn't say it's my favourite but it's the one that is most fresh in my mind.

"Time you enjoyed wasting is time well spent." -John Lennon.

I have won so many arguments because of this quote, if one could even call them arguments.

"Hey! Dont throw Repressed memory Emily
She wont remember this" ... I cant rember where this came from.

And one of the best quotes ever from one of the best poems ever:

"(come in under the shadow of this red rock),
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handfull of dust." er... Robert Browning I think... its Childe Roland to the Dark tower came

"When adults say, "Teenagers think they are invincible" with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, they don't know how right they are. We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are. We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. They forget that when they get old. They get scared of losing and failing. But that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail."
? John Green (Looking for Alaska)

"Thomas Edison's last words were 'It's very beautiful over there'. I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere, and I hope it's beautiful."
? John Green (Looking for Alaska)

"What a treacherous thing to believe that a person is more than a person."
? John Green (Paper Towns)

All from the same guy I know but it's good stuff.

"To those who do not know mathematics it is difficult to get across a real feeling as to the beauty, the deepest beauty, of nature. ... If you want to learn about nature, to appreciate nature, it is necessary to understand the language that she speaks in."
-Richard Feynman

-Friedrich Nietzsche

"You know what? A society where anyone can make jokes about anyone else and everyone laughs is a truly tolerant society. Political correctness charged censorship only services to engender distance between social groups. Besides, gangsters don't need defending; they have guns for that!"

"Well... you could do that. Yeah, you could do that. Of course you could! But why? Look at these people, these human beings. Consider their potential! From the day they arrive on the planet, blinking, step into the sun, there is more to see than can ever be seen, more to do than? no, hold on. Sorry, that's The Lion King. But the point still stands: Leave them alone!"-The Doctor

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather, to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming loudly, 'Wow! What a ride!'"

~Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

The unreal is more powerful than the real, because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because it's only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on.

What I want is to be needed. What I need is to be indispensable to somebody. Who I need is somebody that will eat up all my free time, my ego, my attention. Somebody addicted to me. A mutual addiction.

Big Brother isn't watching. He's singing and dancing. He's pulling rabbits out of a hat. Big Brother's busy holding your attention every moment you're awake. He's making sure you're always distracted. He's making sure you're fully absorbed.

- Chuck Palahniuk
