Favorite Unpopular Game Genre?

Usually when people talk about their favorite game genre, it boils down to FPSs, Action Games, RPGs, et cetera, et cetera.

So what is your favorite game genre that most people don't care for?

Tabletop, if Magic: The Gathering is tabletop. It's extremely rad.

Adventure probably.

 

[Janus Vesta]

Stealth based games. There are only 4 major stealth series, Splinter Cell, MGS, Hitman and Thief. Splinter Cell seems to be turning into an action game, MGS was already half action game, Hitman has some uestionable design choices for Absolution and Theif 4 is no where to be seen.

I'm afraid my favourite genre is quickly dying and no one seems to care.

Combat-oriented flight sims. I'd jump with joy that a new IL-2 is finally coming out, but it's starting to go the way of Episode 3...

Cover based shooters with a first person perspective for maneurvering, like Brothers in Arms and soon to buy Deus Ex Human Revolution.

 

[Tiger Sora]

RTS. Most people who like FPS hate RTS games. Sc2 and every C&C game minus Tiberian 4. EA ruined that game.

 

[Pharsalus]

Space Flight sims, pretty much a dead genre these days which is a real shame. Freespace and Tie Fighter were great games.

 

[The Hero Killer]

JRPGs, it seems that after the rise of Bethesda and Bioware people have started to hate the subgenre.

 

[Rock 'n' Soul]

Simulations... specifically... farming sims. I love Harvest Moon. Shameful, I know.

 

[PxDn Ninja]

Space Combat sims. Wing Commander. Xwing vs Tie Fighter. I miss those games.

Also, Bemani-style games. Rock Band is still big, but I miss classic DDR in the arcade.

JRPG, Puzzle, Turn Based Strategy (Fire Emblem Style, with each team getting a turn. The more common form is having each character/unit get a turn, and while I like both I prefer the first form.), Visual Novels (ie. Pheonix Wright), and Hack-&-Slash.

JRPGs. I remember back on the SNES/PS1 I used to just call them RPGs, but it seems like every single game today has RPG bits, whether they're wanted or not and JRPGs are getting rarer and rarer. Thank all powerful Athiesmo that a new Tales game is coming next year.

While it's not a specific genre, I also enjoy 'mindless chaos' sort of games. Thankfully, the new EDF game isn't far off, so that particular itch is going to be scratched soon.

I still really like platformers... 2d or 3d.

I know that they're not really unpopular, but they're certainly less popular than they used to be. I still like 'em though.

I really enjoy life simulators and just simulators in general. It can be very hard to find good quality simulators that do not involve driving vehicles. Oh how I long for more.

Wait what? do you know what Et cetera means? it means that the list goes on , and theres more to it.

Also theres not really a such thing as a unpopular genre.
