I thought that I'd start this up after playing RE4. It gives out so many gruesome ways for Leon to die, and a few nice ways for him to kill. What's your favorite killing or death?

Mine would have to be getting killed by an Iron Maiden's "Spike hug" attack. Being grabbed and pulled into the monster to be impaled had a very cool impact. Gross, but good.

Or instead, I'd always love to shoot the dynamite that some Ganados hold just before they throw it. "PWNAGE" just rushes through my head when that happens :D

Assassin's Creed wowed me with its kill moves. So much that I can't name any single move as my favourite. The closest I can get is the hidden blade. Everything he does with this thing reeks of awesome. The surgical stab to the stomach or spine, the running/jumping stab to the temple, the counter blows...

There are 3 that really stick in my mind...
Falling into a mincer (Lost Vikings)
The Cranial Bore (Turok 2: Seeds of Evil)
And of course;
Death By Chicken (Legend of Zelda)

I'll rack my brain today and see if I can think of any more, but i'm having my very first Wii experience in an hour or so, so you'll excuse me if i forget.. :)

There's one in Resident Evil 4 I really liked. When you fight a particular monster (it's referred to as "It" in the game, the creature in the hanging cage/maze). One of the deaths it will grab Leon and cuts him in two with the tail, it's very gruesome but cool.

Also, if you have not see this, it may interest you:

One of the best, ever!

I particularly enjoyed the less the gate game "The Punisher" for the deaths it had. One of the best was shoving a guys head into the metal chroming machine and turning him into a chrome dome(bad pun). Some of the deaths were just amazingly innovative, although it pull the cheap look away and show in black and white for some of the deaths (ie drill in head) it was still pretty entertaining.

Dead Rising anyone? It's overloaded with so many good death scenes and ways to die (well other people anyway). People getting gutted by zombies are always fun to watch. Sean the prist death or maybe the Clowns are my favourite boss battle deaths. As for me killing zombies, hmm let me think about this... headshots with the shotgun are always fun, but nothing can beat the harware in that game. Chainsaws, drills, lawnmower... all very messy.

As I recall in Clive Barker's Undying every creature had a unique killing animation if they got ya... one of em decapitated ya, others would eat you, etc. I'll try and see if any of em are on Youtube.

Having a characters brains eaten by a Mindflayer in BG2 was also a pain. I mean, it's basically an attack that if it hits the character reduces their int by a certain amount, and if that characters int hits 0 their brains are officially bye-bye. Considering most fighters in the game ain't exactely the brightest bunch to start with ("I'm looking at you Minsc") and they've 'got' to get close in order to kill the buggers... yeah... many a reload because my frontline warriors all got their brains eaten and let the rest of my group get slaughtered. And don't even get me started on Elder Beholders or Vampires in that game either.... The horror...

Pretty much any of the fatalities in Mortal Kombat games rank up there in my mind. I was always especially fond of being frozen and then blasted apart by Sub Zero or having your head/spine torn out by whoever that guy was.

Also, eaten by Squiggoth in DoW and sneak attacks in Tenchu because when you managed to sneak up behind a guy like that it felt so rewarding.

Favourite ways of being killed:

- Being hacked into two pieces in "Prince of Persia" (the classic one). But mainly because it was quite shocking seeing that so explicitly in my age back then.

- Being sucked in by a barnacle in "Half-Life".

- Getting completely dismembered in "Die by the Sword".

Favourite ways of killing:

- Dropping heavy stuff on someone, with the uprising of physics in games this has become quite common, though.

- Finishing an enemy undead hero with a "Holy Light" in "WarCraft 3" Battle.net games.

- Getting a real stealth kill of your target (not alerting anyone) in the "Hitman" series.

The Space Quest series. The graphics aren't all that great anymore, but there is more to a good death scene than lots of gore. Space Quest had some funny, unexpected deaths. Like when you try to examine a sheet of metal in SQ3 and accidentally cut yourself, bleed to death, turn blue, then collapse. Then the game mocks you for not saving.

a dragon ball Z game a friend made me play once, button mashing cause i dont know shit and him blasting the heck out of me wasnt the best but at the end he did a very awsome finish move on me, he charged up a huge energy ball and threw it my way, that was enough to kill me and the planet but he had to throw another over sized ball at me just to be a prick

In Half-Life 2: Episode 1, at the beginning part of the game, if you accidentally slip and fall into the pit surrounding the Citadel, it's funny as Alyx will stop in the middle of any sentence to yell out "Gordon!"

My favorite way to kill is in Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. In one of the puzzle maps, you get in a crane and have to arrange a metal bridge across a moat. However, the possibilities with the bridge are so much more, such as setting it on its side and sweeping across the area, killing EVERYONE. Or, if you accidentally move the bridge when people are on it fast enough, you can hurt and kill people trying to get across. Or, if the bridge falls into the moat, if you pick up the bridge, it ascends fast enough through the water to kill anyone in the way, and send their corpse FLYING into the air.

Excavator in Dead Rising.

Any fatality in Mortal Kombat.

And finally, getting decapitated by Dr. Salvador on RE4 for the "Holy ****!" factor.

I have many favorite ways to kill; sticky 'nade in Halo (including the spike grenades in Halo 3), shrink & squish from Duke Nukem 3D, the pruning hook in Dead Rising, the PPC in Mechwarrior 2, the nuke in Shadow Warrior... I could ramble on for a while.

edited to add Forgot to mention the lawnmower in Dead Rising. *giggle*

Favorite deaths tend to be the spectacular ones; getting my Warthog or ATV rocketed off a cliffside in Halo and subliming in a reactor meltdown in Mechwarrior 2 are my top two.

In the UT series, there's a gun called the Shock Rifle (some of you may be familiar with how it works). Basically there are two firing modes; a slow-moving bubble of energy and an instant-hit beam. If you hit a bubble with the beam, it makes a big, powerful explosion known as the almighty Combo.

Now my favorite way to kill people isn't with the combo because, while enjoyable, it's too ordinary. It's one of the most used weapons in the game. The best thing is when you accidentally hit somebody's else's bubble with your beam just as they shoot it and kill them with a combo (the UT games are so fast it's pretty much impossible to plan this). In more current iterations of the game it gives you the kill, but back in UT99 it gave your opponent a suicide, which I liked even better for its insulting quality.

Killing somebody with the new biorifle, a.k.a. goo gun in UT3 is pretty awesome too. This big green blob of goo sticks to them and chews away at their health for a few seconds just so they can think about how screwed they are, then they blow up. It's the best when somebody has a lot of health because it takes longer for their inevitable death. :D
