I think most people hate him, but I kind of liked Squall from Final Fantasy 8.

My greatest villain ever is Jon Irenicus from Baldur's Gate 2.

Joshua Graham (aka the burned man) from the Fallout NV expansion Honest Hearts... at least, that is what comes to mind first. I could wax and wane about the quality of individual characters and NPCs, but outside of JRPGs and games with a very defined preset character (most nintendo titles come to mind) the PlayerChars aren't very dynamic to me.

Although it changes pretty frequently, as of late I think the title goes to;

Dudley of Street Fighter fame.

Because chances are, he's right. You probably have no dignity.

Now if only I was actually any good as him...

Kefka, easily.

That laugh, and so many one liners!

He was a ton of fun as a camp bad guy, and makes sephiroth seem about as interesting as a dead accountant painted brown.

The questions really hard to answer because of how many game characters I've liked over the years, but somebody that pops to mind is Doc Louis from Punchout!!

Also, I totally agree with the post above me.

I think I'll edit this when I think of somebody else.

My favorite character is Yuri Lowell (Tales of Vesperia). He's funny, but cares a lot about the entire party, acting like a big brother to all of them, protecting them and helping to solve problems.

Also he is incredibly broken, and if you have the right skills equipped and know what your doing you can achieve infinite combos, which is always fun.

I have a list, actually. :)
In no particular order:

John Marston: Do not fuck with this guy's family. Just... don't.
Ezio Auditore: Even in his fourties, he kicks ass.
Dante (Devil May Cry): So hammy and over-the-top that it's impossible for me to hate him. And that is an AWESOME coat.
Paragon Shepard: Kind-hearted and practical without sacrificing any badassery.
Chell, Wheatley, and GLaDOS: I'll let you figure that one out.
Soap and MacTavish from MW1 & 2: Not sure why, I just like 'em.
Iji: Because none of you saw it coming. :p And her flat refusal to give up.

I am obligated to say Hazama, for he is the King of Trolls. As if it wasn't obvious with him being my Avatar.

Plenty but at the moment my favourites are GlaDOS, Wheatley and Cave Johnson. Take a guess at what game I've been played recently

April Ryan from The Longest Journey for the very simple reason that of all the games I've ever played, she's pretty much the only one that seems realistic. Not a caricature, not a stereotype, not some flat one dimensional super-soldier but a character with believable and sympathetic beliefs, dreams, wants, needs, flaws and personality.

It's really easy for me to play a game and go 'gee willikers dis guys badass eh!', what's almost never happened was me feeling sympathetic for a character. And among those few, April Ryan is my favourite.
