As we all know there was a lot of crap floating around the consoles of the 16 bit era, but there were also some real gems. The purpose of this thread is to have you guys (yes you!) list your own favourites from that era. Any extra details such as pictures or screenshots from the games would be good too.

My personal favourite was Golden Axe on the Sega Megadrive (or Genesis, depending), which I must say is still much better than it's current day remake.

I'm betting that this thread has probably been done before so don't go complaining to me about it if that is so.

I had some game, where you were a ninja, could throw shurikens and had a white wolf/dog companion. I cant remember how it is called, and i want to play it. BADLY. If someone tells me the name i will love them forever.

And ever

I also liked Golden Axe a lot.
However, I think Streets of Rage 2 may have been my favorite.
Pity it broke on me.

EDIT:

You aren't thinking of The Revenge of Shinobi, are you?
I don't remember a dog being involved, but to be fair, I wasn't really good at it.
I got through most of the levels by spamming kunai until I ran out.

By far, the combination of Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles was fantastically epic.

This thread will most likely be frowned upon because it is a list thread, but I'll play.

My two favorites are easily
Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy III

Wow, I'd forgotten Streets of rage, but I'm happy to see so many others enjoyed it too. I especially liked the Napalm... Yeah!

I missed the 16-bit era
I had a master system because we couldn't afford a mega drive or a SNES.

Super Mario RPG.
That and Mario all stars were the only two SNES games I'd ever had.

Killer Instinct is still the best fighting game ever made.
Sir, I'm afraid you are incorrect. Street Fighter II is the best fighting game ever made. But Killer Instinct was good.

Man, there were some great games during the 16-bit era. Sim City, Sunset Riders, The Lost Vikings... takes you back, doesn't it?

Tetris, Lost Luggage, and that one game where you played as a sprite bottle cap.
Are you talking about Cool Spot, the one where you play as the 7-Up red dot?
