I was wondering what The Escapists favourite riffs and solos were.

Two of my favourite solos would be:

Alive - Pearl Jam http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5mrEAPMLk8
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mbBbFH9fAg
(along with anything by Hendrix)

And my favourite riff is:

Zero - Smashing Pumpkins http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJOGq5XTojo

2 minutes 37 seconds in. I feel like he should be playing on his knees whilst rising up on a giant pedestal out of the stage.

Favorite riff/solo? Oh dear...so many to choose from, but on the list would have to be:

- The entire final 5+ minutes of Freebird
- Slash's solo late in November Rain
- Zakk Wylde's bridge in "No More Tears"

That last one, coming as it did in the late summer of 1991, was like the last dying gasp of rock n' roll before Kurt Cobain came along and killed it.

November Rain is the most emotionally intense solo I've ever heard.

So many Stevie Ray Vaughan songs to choose from, but I'll go with either of the solos from Pride and Joy.

I always hate topics like these. It's not the discussion itself, it's that I always think of a better example I could have used instead of what I actually used. But for now, I'll leave these:

and

And that's about all I've got.

A fellow SRV fan eh? Good choice. ;D

Everything by Jimi Hendrix ever, but Voodoo Chile and his rendition of Like a Rolling Stone are my tops.

There's also Led Zeppelin's Moby Dick.

I have tons more, but these are just what I can reasonably fit into this post. :p
