A lot of games feature stores which usually sell you various bits and pieces for use in your quest to save the princess/world/galaxy etc. So I thought, which one has the best shopkeeper?

They have a cool theme song (which I couldn't find anywhere on the web) and are basically the black market. Plus the dialogue shady provides when browsing through weapons is fun listening to.

I'm slightly in love with Moira Brown from Fallout 3. Whats that? You want me to become dangerously irradiated before stepping on a landmine and then infiltrating a Mirelurk nest? Sure honey, whatever you want.

Are you people kiddding me? There is only one correct answer: Recette from Recettear! Adorableness, humour and actually playable.

If we're talking strictly NPC shopkeepers, though, Rodin from Bayonetta.

That's an easy one. Bosco, from Sam & Max.
It's been a while since I've played Sam & Max so I can't remember many of his lines, but I know a good 90% of them were pure gold.

Charsi from Diablo 2. If ever I was to marry someone... it would have been her... it would have been her.

So beautiful...

Well Recette kinda breaks all the rules by being a shopkeeper and the game's main character. Capitalism ho!

How is this even a question? The merchant from RE4 is clearly the best one of all time. He's got somethin' that might interest ya, after all.

What?! Every time I played FO3, I wanted to bitchslap her on first meeting. Most of the time, I just ended up pilfering everything I could from her store (not that it was much, to be fair) and selling it to the wandering merchant.

Don't really have a favourite, most annoyed me. Will probably remember a tolerable one in a bit, though...

Possibly that Rodian in the PC version of KOTOR, who lives on a space station by himself; he had awesome stuff and had really, really good stuff. Can't remember his name though...

The only other one I can think of is the Vendotron from Fallout: New Vegas, who only sells full condition weapons, tons of ammo, a nice selection of weapon mods and good armours; expensive, but worth it.

Enchantment!

Definitely agreed. Especially when Sandal turns up just before the last boss.

Stranger, stranger...you beat me to it. The RE4 merchant is the best, hands down.
Ah, the choice of an avid comment collector! It's a nice comment, stranger!

The ones from the GBC-era Zelda games who would inexplicably death-ray you to..death if you entered their premises after stealing something. The sheer whatthefuckery of that always made me chuckle.

Oh god! How could I have forgotten?! Sandal ties with the RE4 merchant for Best Shopkeeper Ever with me. I love Sandal. He's totally my favorite Dragon Age character.
