Alright, I admit this has been out for a while but I'd like to share my dissapointment with anyone willing to read this. I also realise this is a fairly kiddy game but it just seemed like such an odd concept I thought I'd give it a go.
FFCCRoF is the second installment to the already mediocre FFCC series so understandably I didn't have high hopes to begin with but all I really wanted was a distraction in the form of a childish real-time RPG that would entertain me during a long flight to Poland. It failed to meet even these low expectations and raised a few questions in the proccess which are as follows:
a.) If the malarky with crystals and miasma in the first game was brought on by a meteor colliding with a "great crystal" and scattering shards across the land, why are there already hundreds of crystals everywhere in FFCCRoF which happens to be the prequel? b.) Why are all the characters 4 ft. tall with enormous heads but are equally proportioned in FFCC? c.) Why is there so much needless dialogue between your characters when in FFCC your entire party was mute? d.) What's with the cheesey voice-acting? It's embarassing, it's like a Disney-Final Fantasy crossover.
As for the plot it involves some ancient moon-worshipping cult and the eclipse and your father dying blah blah blah. Final Fantasy is probably the most popular RPG out there but when there's this many spin-offs you really start to wonder why, especially when they can't even bother with an interesting plot any more.
There's also the dramatic change in the spell-casting system but I can't be assed, I think you get the idea. FFCCRoF is a very different game to FFCC and for the most part this is a good thing but it's still FF for ten-year-olds and I seriously doubt FFCC: Crystal Bearers will be any improvement.
