The difference in this case is that we are talking about a segment of the gaming community that a month ago was in hot water over being highly discriminatory to females, and in particular was in trouble for some of it's fans shouting "rape that *****". Now if it were something like a Maxim or possibly even another porn site that would be one thing but for it to be a site that has an entire sections devoted to pornstars pretending to be raped and enjoying it. At the very least this was a dumb mistake that will prevent bigger sponsors in the long term and at the worst confirms a lot of the suspicions laid at the FGC's feet at the moment, and by by association the rest of us.xSKULLY said:no its not for credibility its for money. anyway i think we on the internet had got passed the point were porn was a taboo, its only ever afew clicks away from you at any given point so why not let it sponsor gaming events? i really dont see the harm in it and i dont see how its any different to energy drink companies sponsoring popular youtuber'se.wlmo4 said:http://kotaku.com/5898563/porn-site-wants-to-sponsor-fighting-game-events

Exposure because people these days sure do love seeing some exposure.Wolfram23 said:Hey, if they bring pornstars to events it would probably cause a massive spike in popularity. Sure, probably not the kind of popularity they want, but still... exposure
If they were only M & AO rated games I wouldn't see a problem with it but alot of fighting games shoot for T ratings to be available to everyone instead of just adults porn as easy as it is to find on the net if your looking for it it's never (intentionally) on sites made by Disney, Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network (Though adult sites may use their characters) so it's makes a bit of sense for FGC not to want them there. Though I'd imagine some money/entertainment could be made be doing such a thing however.xSKULLY said:no its not for credibility its for money. anyway i think we on the internet had got passed the point were porn was a taboo, its only ever afew clicks away from you at any given point so why not let it sponsor gaming events? i really dont see the harm in it and i dont see how its any different to energy drink companies sponsoring popular youtuber'se.wlmo4 said:http://kotaku.com/5898563/porn-site-wants-to-sponsor-fighting-game-events

Come to think of it, NASCAR has always been family entertainment, despite the fact that the main cups have been sponsored by tobacco and alcohol companies for ages. Why is it okay for an alcohol company to sponsor an auto race (drinking and driving, much?) But not okay for a porn company to sponsor individual people in a fighting game tournament? They're both legally age restricted to adults, with porn actually having weaker restrictions than alcohol or tobacco...xSKULLY said:no its not for credibility its for money. anyway i think we on the internet had got passed the point were porn was a taboo, its only ever afew clicks away from you at any given point so why not let it sponsor gaming events? i really dont see the harm in it and i dont see how its any different to energy drink companies sponsoring popular youtuber'se.wlmo4 said:http://kotaku.com/5898563/porn-site-wants-to-sponsor-fighting-game-events
