I was watching Firefly the other day and I got the last episode and I felt that oh-so-familiar pang of pain associated with the end of Firefly and I got to thinking: "Firefly would work really well as a Western RPG".

The way envisioned it was sort of like Mass Effect but with more emphasis on side quests. You'd have your main story (written primarily by Joss Whedon) where we'd have an epic story with our favourite ship crew going up against Alliance or some other threat where we would meet loads of fun characters and do loads of fun missions. Then there'd be the rest of the 'verse. Lots of side missions where you'd do "jobs" like they did in the show and meet old and new friends. The side quests would be written by the Firefly writing staff and would really flesh out an already cool world.

As for the actual gameplay bit I couldn't decide between a squad shooter with lots of different play styles depending on who you picked:
Mal: Specialising in pistols and fast shooting. (More cover based)
Zoe: Your shotguns and close range weapons (A mixture of cover based and run and gun)
Jayne: You assault rifles and heavier weapons as well as some snipering (run and gun except for sniper bits)
River: Maybe a more hand to hand type melee affair, maybe with a bit of hand gun.
Simon: The medic but has a little handgun training.

I think it could be a really fun game.

The other idea I had I won't go into as much detail on was a Harry Potter game where you played through his school years. I know, they already did it and it sucked but bare with me, this is more of a story idea. Say game 1 was based on Years 1-3. The game is split into the respective year each with it's own main story (which follows the plot of the books with little extras). However, each year has a vast array of side missions you can do which reveal various bits of mythology and backstory for the games. So for book 1 you'd do say errands for the ghosts which tell you a bit about Nicholas Femel and his relationship with Dumbledore. Then once you complete Year 1's main story you move onto Year 2. In Year 2 (The Chamber of Secrets) you do sidequests which tell you about the founding of Hogwarts and about the founders themselves. Another example I can think of is Year 6 where you collect memories from various people which flesh out Voldemort's history and maybe some other side characters.

So yeah, that's my ideas. What about the rest of you?

I'd love a Mass Effect like game based on Dune. And only on Arrakis. So you travel around the desert visiting caves and leading rebellions and that shit, with knife-duels and sandworm riding and epic politics. That would be awesome.

I think Lie To Me would make a good modern LA Noire style game. Shame the show has been cancelled now I've heard. Various films could make good games as well.

I'd love to see a House M.D game, but that's mainly just because I love the show. Can't really think of any ideas for it.

I'd like to see a Rift-styled four-archetype multi-talent-tree'd MOG set in the world of Avatar: the Last Airbender.

You're welcome. [http://www.housemdgame.com/]

On topic... Black Lagoon. Just for once I'd like to see a game where you dual wield guns and actually get to aim them at different targets, and DMC3 doesn't count. Of course then the game would have an utterly insane difficulty jump when you fought a certain character.

You can't put the awesomeness of Avatar the last airbender in a MMO game, it'll degrade the awesomeness to just numbers.

An Assassin's Creed style game.... set on the Discworld in Ankh-Morpork.

Tell me that wouldn't be awesome.

Yes, that would be splendid.
I would love to play as the Mormon pyromaniac or the Vietnamese knife woman.
Think about it! At that arc we saw so many new characters!
We could even make a brawl game.
I want to see the Romanian twin arc... would you like to see your reward?

I'd want to play as The Wizard. Then again he'd be a game breaker.

BULLET PROOF VEST
I think that his cheesy lines would have a better chance at hurting his opponents than his bullets.

Aha. Although judging by various reviews etc. it isn't very good :/ And that seems to be an understatement. Shame.

the hunger games would be great for a game. a game based around survival, stealth, combat, and sabotage at times. it would be a fun multilayer game (i cant really imagine a good single player game for it)

I'm going to say the Pendragon series could make a good game.

I'm going to assume you can only choose 1 element and it would probably be either a 4 way free for all or fire vs everyone as it is in the show.

The game would be established in the retained coherencies between all of the Studio Ghibli films. That would mean a quite excellent balance between Steampunk, Dieselpunk and Fantasy set somewhere around the mid 1920s. Action/Adventure/Puzzle

I want a Starship Troopers game based on the novel. 50% shooting aliens, 50% taking classes on history and moral philosophy.

A District 9 game where you play as a peace member of a keeping force could be kinda fun.
