It's in the title.

I personally have 3 types i'll surely go see as soon as they hit cinemas here.
In the order of their release.

1. Silence - Scorsese, what else.
2. Ghost in the Shell - Now i don't have high expectations, but the movie have managed to caught my curiosity, which is more than i hoped for when they announced it.
3. Blade Runner 2049 - Almost similar case like in the previous example. As a huge fan of the original i could not just miss it. For better or worse. Plus, i've heard some good things about the director.

What are your must-sees?

Game of Thrones Season 7.

Yeah movies these days don't do it for me.

Unless Tarantino and Scorsese makes another Gangster movie like Casino and Reservoir Dogs or Peter Jackson makes the Silmarillion.

Or a movie by Paul Thomas Anderson.

Heh, I'll see as the year goes.

Blade Runner has my curiosity though, which is more than I can say for anything else.

EDIT: No, wait, I just remembered that The God Particle is supposed to come out this year! So yeah, definitively that.

Ghost in the Shell and Blade Runner both have my attention. I hope they're not massive disapointments. I feel like Ghost in the Shell is one of those films that could actually be improved upon, making an adeptation worthwhile. That's about it. I'll inevitably get dragged off to go see Star Wars, but I honestly think I'd rather get my finger nails torn out higurashi style.

In case you didn't know, I am most excited and eager for Beauty and the Beast

I guess I can nominate (not including "so bad, I want to enjoy the trainwreck" films):

-The Space Between Us (...what? I like sci-fi)
-Life (see above)
-Power Rangers (...what? I grew up with this nonsense. ;p)
-Alien: Covenant (yes, I'm hopeful)
-Wonder Woman (the first truly good DCEU movie?)
-Cars 3 (like Cars 1, don't like Cars 2, Cars 3 looks...interesting)
-The Dark Tower (not fond of the book, but hey, I'll give it a shot)
-Blade Runner 2049 (please don't suck, please don't suck...)
-My Little Pony: The Movie (but as a DVD release only)
-Jumanji (see Power Rangers comments)
-Star Wars: The Last Jedi (because as much as I can complain about TFA or Rogue One, I can still enjoy this franchise)

There's more that I'm excited for on some level, and I'm sure that there'll be smaller films that I end up enjoying (e.g. the best film I've seen so far this year is A United Kingdom), but those are the ones that spring to mind

Only Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The first one was the best of its generation, and I am really curious if they can catch lightning in a bottle twice.

Not that it is the only movie I will see, far from it, but it is the only one I am anticipating.

I can't think of anything I am excited about. I am going to see most, if the all, of the Marvel and DC movies. So, the only one I can think of right now I am the most enthusiastic for would be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Seriously, it has the best movie trailer I have seen in a long time. Baby Groot Rules!

I'm going to say "Yes" on that. It's not as serious as most superhero movies are. The first movie has a lot of great space battles and adventure like Star Wars. I going to stick my neck out a little and say the writing in Guardians of the Galaxy is better than Star Wars. This is from someone who grew up on the original trilogy.

Stick your neck out further - I've got an axe waiting. ^_^

But, anyway:

That depends...

I've seen GotG, and while it's arguably not a superhero film per se, it's very much a MCU film - wisecracking characters, 2D villains, lots of spectacle but lack of gravitas, etc. In GotG's case specifically, sure, it looks pretty, but it willingly embraces every cliche there is. Think Galaxy Quest, if they'd played their tropes straight without a hint of self-awareness. I've seen GotG compared to Star Wars (see above), but IMO, the closest comparison that comes to mind is Farscape, with twice as much spectacle, but half as much depth.

So, if you like Star Wars (and assuming you mean the OT), then you would like GotG is you thought that Luke, Leia and Han all needed to be jokers, if you thought there wasn't enough special effects, and if you thought that Darth Vader needed to be a 2D villain who died in the first film.

Still waiting on Silence.
Hopeful for Blade Runner 2 because of Villeneuve.
Less hopeful for Alien Covenant, still totally seeing it.

Make that two.

If I were to add-
Beauty and the Beast
Disney next animated film now that they got a good track record coming.
Maybe Cars 3 (I in the minority for liking Cars althought I avoid 2 like a plague.)
Studio Ponoc Mary and the Witch's Flower

I'm an MCU fan so obviously all their movies are on the list, but the one movie I've got the most emotional investment in, is Wonder Woman. The DCEU movies have been, let's charitably say disappointing for me for many reasons but there's enough Superman and/or Batman material around that I could give a shit and Suicide Squad got an episode on JLU and the Assault on Arkham movie so that garbage fire could be safely written off.

Wonder Woman on the other hand, has had a less impressive run so I'm really hoping that (even if by accident) they manage to rally and make a good movie. Come on guys, I don't ask a lot in life, but give my favourite hero her due would you.

The ones I currently plan on seeing are, in no particular order...

John Wick: Chapter 2
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2
Life
Alien: Covenant
Dunkirk
Ghost in the Shell
Blade Runner

The only one I'm truly excited and hyped for is John Wick.
