Does anyone think that some bosses in the FF series are stupidly difficult? I know they are supposed to be a challenge, but a lot of FF bosses are just. so. FRUSTRATING!

The most frustrating bosses ive ever battled against where in FFX/X2. Im looking at you Seymour & Behemoth King!!

Anyway.. whos the hardest/frustrating FF boss you've ever went against?

I know that they intentionally put a few ridiculously insane optional bosses in the game for a bit of a challenge. I honestly haven't found too many bosses in the normal progression of the game to be particularly difficult with the exception of a few of the final bosses (ie: Kefka, Sephiroth, etc).

And no, I haven't played FFXIII yet.

The slew of secret bosses in Final Fantasy X-2 were insanely difficult. Yunalesca having a instant petrifying attack with no means of prevention (no it overrides equipment) meant you are seconds to cast Esuna/use a soft or you lost your girl for the remainder of the battle. Couple this with ridiculously high HP for the FFX/FFX-2 series and you are thanking the heavens for Catnip.

For Seymour, I struggled with him only on my initial FFX file due to being quite under leveled. On subsequent files I have decimated him, once even through an Attack Reel OHKO with minimal grinding. I admittedly dodge one hundred lightning bolts at the Thunder Plains the moment I arrive to require the three strength spheres, plus the one I have from downing the Luca Goers. Thus I turn someone (usually one of the girls) into a powerhouse.

I have only played FFX and the Seymour on mount gagazet is a ***** to do without grinding. Other than him the game was pretty easy, I have only done the main story line, I know the monster arena has some really hard ones.

The dark aeons aren't exactly a walk over either.

Stay as zombie and she can't turn you into stone, the fight becomes really easy when you know that.

Well I'm only about 3.5hrs into FFXIII so the 'bosses' so far have been super easy.

I remember Golden Sun (GBA) had a couple really tough boss fights. Really, really tough.

Also, in Skies of Arcadia Legends (NGC) there was some super difficult ship vs (forgot name) behemoth mega apocalypse doom machine things. They weren't the most challenging but they were still quite tough, took a few tries to really figure each one out. You had to know when to time your defensive maneuvres, which is tough in a turn based fight where you pre program about 5 moves per round. It was easy to put the defense maneuvre in a slot too soon or late and get pulverized.

Seymour 3, because I stopped playing for about a year before I decided to try again. I beat him, then got stuck on the next boss.

The trick to beating any boss in X-2 was using that special dress sphere thing. Those where so overpowered it was scary.

Hardest boss? Well, I still haven't beaten Ruby or Diamond in FFVII or Ozma in FFIX. Most frustrating boss? I'll agree with Bourne; it took me 5 or 6 tries to defeat Yunalesca from FFX. It was especially annoying considering my brother had beaten her on his first try. Gagazet Seymour (i.e. the Zombification Seymour) was difficult as well.

The hardest ones I've fought is Seymour, any of them, in FF X.
Although just going all out on him works well.

For FF XIII, the boss fight
to get Odin is a ***** if you're not quick enough. He killed me in about 23 seconds once.

My tactic.

Saboteur - Using status effects.

Ravager - Blast him

Commando - Keep the chain hits up.

Just before he's about to stagger summon Odin.

After that switch medic to heal then rinse and repeat!

I manhandled him. Sentinel is your friend.

EDIT: Oh wait that was the fight after.

What I did was Synergist casting Haste and Buffs. Saboteur debuffing him. Ravager and Commando + Ravager getting him staggered. Unleash hell, wash rinse repeat.
Ive been doing this, three times now. Just before he dies (Tiny health left), he goes for my party leader. Takes the piss.

Yeah I died twice but the third time was the charm. Make sure you unleash your summon whenever you can when he is staggered.
Cheers. I shall try it.

FFX certainly has some tearfully unfair bosses. Seymour Flux was, for example, a real pain. Then, when I (quite foolishly) thought my party was finally strong enough to tackle any foe, that might cross my path, I bumped into some dark aeons and got my ass handed to me. I can´t even imagine what Penance is like.

Game after game Squeenix continues to laugh at me while stomping on my naive little mind.

Thinking back of all the FF games i've played and finished, (all but 2, 11 and 13) the hardest non-optional bosses are below:

FF1 = Chaos (getting to him was the real challenge)
FF4 = Zeromus (i remember having trouble here)

OPTIONAL bosses are generally insane. I normally read 'insane' as 'fun' but I took exception in FF12. No boss should take 6-8 HOURS to defeat. that is not fun. that is certifiably insane.

I pwned the two weapons in FF7, killed the timed boss at end of 8, had no issues with 10 (yes I even defeated that optional boss if you collect 10 of every mob in game at the monster cave / ranch). 12 did give me some trouble with the optional espers or whatever they were called.

FF4 for GBA had an annoying bastard called ZeromusEX. Heals 9999HP every turn, has insane moves that cause 8000 damage to everyone and has over 100K HP. Lunar Bahamut and Lunar Odin from GBA FF4 are also on here mainly because their HP is over 100K and all have moves that Insta KO such as Zantzukzen, and Mega Flare.

Yiazmat from FF12 though! 120 Million HP.

That's enough to make people Smash their PS2 into pieces.

The Magic Master in FF6 , more frustrating than hard due to the fact that killing him cause him to fire off Ultimia which can and will most likly kill you unless you have the fore sight to jump right before he dies. Doesn't help that he's at the top of the very frustrating(at least to me) dungeon, Fanatic's Tower.

I beat Ruby weapon, without grinding to a ridiculous level above him too, just cloud left with master summon and mimic, so i got him, that's about 10 years of owning that game and i only finished it a couple months ago, mad...
Favourite game ever really.
And as for bosses where you just don't expect it, Yunalesca, who saw THAT coming, she is an unholy ***** too beat, especially if you don't figure out how to get to stage 3 without mega-death just killing everyone..
I need to get back to FFX, never beat all those dark aeons, got taken up by the monster arena and celestial weapons.

I'd have to say as far as difficult Final Fantasy bosses go, some of those marks in FFXII were ridiculous, as well as the more powerful Espers. Final Fantasy 6 will always be my favorite FF but I must admit...it's not very difficult ><

Seymour on the mountain was easy - once I got a strategy down. Been a while, but I remember poisoning and hasting him, had auto-heal (or whatever it's called) armour to fix zombie, Rikku threw a silence bomb, and I was able to take him down with an aeon before he did that major attack. Everyone got a stab at him, too.

As for XIII, last night I had a hell of a time fighting Barthandelus at the end of chapter 9. It took too many attempts to count. What really pissed me was the doom status. It's a perfectly management battle, the strategy is simple enough, but you need luck to defeat him before the timer runs out.
