According to a latest leak they are about to announce the following characters:
Ken Masters (Echo Fighter of Ryu)
Shadow the Hedgehog (Echo Fighter of Sonic the Hedgehog)
Mach Rider
Issac from Golden Sun
Geno from Super Mario RPG
Banjo-Kazooie.

I really don't get SSB's fixation with guest characters. I mean, I get it in the commercial sense (cross-promotion), but what's the rationale for choosing a guest character over a Nintendo character? Like, what's the basis for characters like Ken and Shadow to turn up? Slightly less weird than the likes of Snake and Cloud, sure, but, huh? Banjo-Kazooie was at least a Nintendo exclusive at the time it was made.Samtemdo8 said:

Smash Bros started off representing Nintendo's History but over the last decade since Brawl the series as evolved into a celebration of videogame culture as a whole.Hawki said:

in No other game series will you see Mario fighting Sonic, Pac man vs Ryu or even just Cloud beating the shit out of Pichu.
I'm hoping Rayman will be there. There is not much reason to believe that that will happen, but I'm still hoping it will. Otherwise Waluigi though he is pretty much confirmed not there. Chibi Robo would be cool, but he is probably just too minor.

Unless there is a surprise twist in the end, so far only one character from the leak is confirmed.

this spirit looks kind of interesting as a single player distraction. going to miss trophies though
the leak overhyped but I can't really blame Nintendo for that.
I do like how they fake us out with Spirit mode, announcing it has a little extra mode but then revealing it to be the story mode. Master trolling
