"Darker, bloodier, and more Epic" they say:

http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2016/06/the-return-of-samurai-jack-will-be-darker-and-way-more-epic/

Here is the first image of how Jack will look like in the show:

Got it from a twitter post:

Please don't fuck it up Genndy. Heck you always had these "adult" moments in your cartoons, but now I am totally eager to see you cut loose and go balls out Hard "R" on this.

Oh gosh, there's blood on his sword! Literally BLOOD!

I'm really intrigued now, but I hope he doesn't go overboard with it. Yes, Samurai Jack was always more dark for Child-Friendly TV Hours, but it still never was inappropriate for kids (unless you count destroying Robots inappropriate). I know this is now going to be on Adult Swim, but I'm really hoping there is restraint, and that it doesn't end up like a better looking King Star King.

Well if they completely go 180 without any restraint...at least it will be a specticle to see.

And yet I kinda accept it because really, Samurais and BLOODY VIOLANCE go hand in hand.

I mean expect this show to use high pressurized blood spray like how in the show Blood+ Saya chops the monster in half and bloody shower sprayed all over her.

It'll be interesting so see what we'll get now that they don't have to worry about too much censorship. It'll be great to see the show again, let's hope for the best... (crosses fingers) pleasedon'tsuckpleasedon'tsuckpleasedon'tsuck...

It's been fifty years? Man, poor Jack. That's going to take a toll no matter how strong your convictions are. I wonder if the Scotsman is still around?

I'll be honest. I'm a bit worried about the addition of blood. I get that the robots were basically humans and their oil was blood, but I'm kind of hoping they don't go overboard. I don't want to see Attack on Titan-levels of gore and blood here. Samurai had a very unique style, and I worry they might lose that if they go super hard for the gore.

What is wrong with Attack on Titan's use of blood and gore? (Never watched the show)

Well, I think we can safely say without spoiling for you that giants eating people is a messy, gory business.

Anyone who was a kid watching Samurai Jack is old enough for the violence, and I don't think many kids are up to date on the show.

I just want Jack's story to conclude properly...and maybe reveal his actual name?

Nothing's wrong with it for the show. It fits in perfectly with the tone. And it's been there since the beginning. Granted, it's too dark and bloody for my tastes, but I would never expect them to remove it or tone it down.

On the flip side, I don't want Samurai Jack to become a gore fest like Attack on Titan just because they can use real blood now. Do I expect some blood? Of course. It will be nice seeing him slice into actual living creatures instead of constant robots. But I don't want each episode to be drenched in red and Jack looking like he just went swimming in the stuff after every fight.

My Phil LaMarr urge is ready...

Other than that, I wonder which VAs are going to make a vocal appearance in this particular return?

That's clearly just red rubber casing from wires.

Here's the real question, what are they doing about Aku's voice?
I'm pretty sure Mako had an understudy who he trained to mimic his voice fairly well once he realized he was dying.
I'm too lazy to google it for you, but I know he played Iroh in season 3 of Avatar.

Can't wait! Btw, do we know if there's been a time skip in the show, or is it continuing where it last ended?

Just pleased don't suck! I don't want it to end up like the reboot Powerpuff Girls! Granted I have confident it should be find seeing how it is back up by the creator unlike PPG.

Well, getting Mako again is going to be pretty damn hard, so either they'll give Aku a completely new voice or they could find a voice actor that can do a close impression of Mako's Aku voice.

I always substituted oil for blood anyway. Do you remember the time those robot cannibals ate each other? Sure, they were machines, but they looked human. I always loved how warped that show was for a kids show.

I am less concerned about who will voice him (even though it is a factor) and more concerned about his portrayal because if they are going for the more "Darker, Bloodier, and More Epic" rout than they have to make Aku a much more competant and intimidating villain because Aku at times can be a bit too.......un-threatening:

And of course Jack many times is seen easily defeating Aku at every turn.

So bascially to use gaming terminology, they seriously need to buff Aku's Evilness, Intimidation, and Power for this new direction to work.
