Okay, so it did technically only happen in a science lab and the type of chip he's using hasn't really been made available to the public as far as I know, but what do you think the implications of this are? What are your thoughts on the subject?

I think he might have been on a foreign server and lagged out - Anyhow, he respawned.

How can you get infected with a computer virus? It's just 1s and 0s. It'd have to be the matter/energy which made the virus up which infected him, not the actual virus.

Edit: I had a huge argument with my friend about what was better, fingerprints or microchips for security. I want one of those so my door opens automatically when I come close.

Its like the scene in How High. "I hope you get a virus, you and your computer". I love that movie.

Did they try Control Alt Delete?

EDIT: Or, in human terms, shoulder earlobe nipple

Darn I was hoping hoping you meant a virus jumped from infecting computers to infecting biological materials.

Ah, another one of those stories. The ones that have headlines that make you go 'Wow, awesome!' then you see they've bent the truth so much it's like a fucking double helix.

Did he preform an illegal operation and get shut down? Did they have to do a system restore on him? Did he blue screen?

You people, you are awesome. But sadly you also used any material I would have used to make a joke out of this situation.

Always nice how the press words things incorrectly. He wasn't infected, he simply corrupted the chip and then put it into himself. Besides most of these chips have ROM memory in them and cannot be rewritten. So basically it's a load of ballocks.

Although he wasn't infected per say, his implant was, and it was contaminating other computerized equipment around him (door scanners and such).

But imagine if a cochlear implant gets wifi capability for software updates or whatever, and it gets hacked, or simply "dowloads" a corrupted update... What could happen? A throng of old people suddenly start hearing porn all the time instead of what people actually say? They get "pop-up" ("sound-up"?) messages about a fake security threat? They get a blue sound of death?

I read somewhere about some piece of technology that could help blind people see. Can't remember if a chip was implied in it, but one can safely assume that, as technology gets more and more evolved, so too will pirates, and to have your implants hacked is the last thing you'd want...

Scary.

Oh my god, I must infect my friends with spyware. It will be so hilarious.
If you can infect friends digitally through cyborg chips, it'd give a whole new meaning to cybersex.

Fingerpritns can be faked, at least well enough to cheat consumer-electronics... mythbusters did it.
Fingerprint scanners won't open teh door just by you standing near it.

For security reasons, if you live in a house, a burglar would just enter from somewhere else, so it wouldn't be very effective.

I can't wait till cybernetic implants becomes comsumer tec... i'll pimp my brain with every shit avalible, along iwth my Danish decendance, Ninjutsu training, illegal downloads and a good joint, i'll practially become a cyborg-zombie-pirate-ninja-viking... just need to start a cult so i can finish it off with jesus.
