So, I have been looking for a job for a while now. Need one that pays at least $9/hr or else I can't pay my bills. I had a friend of mine tell me on Wednesday that Walgreen's was hiring and that his sister works there. I would be employed as a pharmacist technician. I knew this paid well and so I jumped all over it. Did the online application immediately and went in the next day to do my test just like my friends sister said I should. Well I met up with her and did my test. Then I did my interview. It went really well I think. A few jokes and talk of how I had done customer service all my life as well as in the military.

Well they said that I would receive a call on Friday or Monday. On Friday my friend called me and said that I got the job, but his sister is trying to reason with the manager to start me out at normal pay of $9/hr. I guess he wanted to start me at $7.25/hr minimum wage. I would have to turn the job down if this is true. I make more in unemployment then I would get there.

So it is now Thursday and I still haven't received a call. Should I be worried? Should I contact the job directly, or go around it with my friends sister?

I think getting a job offer and turning it down, makes you ineligible for unemployment, but I could be wrong. Just go in tomorrow and say that you are checking in on the status of your application/interview. It shows extra initiative (even though it sounds like you got the job). Also double check with your friend and see what his sister has to say

I should of been a little more clear. I am already on unemployment.

Thanks for the info. Would contacting by phone be more proper or actually physically going in to check?

I just meant that if you turn down a job they might take it away, but I am most likely wrong. And do which ever you feel more comfortable doing.

I would ask them politely about it. I've had to ....get a bit angry with some employers lately because they advert for a job, then at interview you find out its a totally different job and they've lied to you.
