So it's that time of year again, I will be spending the entire day attached to Sky Sports and BBC.

I see that my team Manchester United have apparently signed Falcao on a season long loan with option to buy at the end of the season...this has come as a bit of a shock for a couple of reasons, We don't need him as they have good players in that position already, and they have greater need elsewhere, especially in defence.

I personally hoped they would sign Hummels and Vidal, still 12 hours to go though ;)

SO who else is glued to the news like me? What moves do you think will happen? What team do you support?

I am glued to this stuff (United fan like yourself) and the Falcao signing completely shocked me. I don't think United will keep him after his season long loan is up but I think we do need him. RVP requires an operation he has put off for far too long (for the injury sustained in the 3-0 win against Olympiakos) so he could play in the World Cup. He's looked badly off his game since the first couple of matches in the group stages and often can't finish the full 90 minutes anyway. Falcao is a similar player and RVP's operation could count him out for over 2 months. Besides, he's injury prone anyway and getting older and slower.

United ins:

Shaw, good signing for the long term. The new LB for years to come and his age means that transfer fee will look more like value a few seasons down the line.

Herrera, a skilled midfielder, the kind of player United need since they have such a lack of quality in midfield. Depending on the arrival of Strootman he could be put down to the bench in January but United have lacked depth in midfield.

Rojo, not a bad price for his age and skill. Had a good World Cup and once his work permit is sorted he will be a good CB for United. He can also be LB cover for Shaw.

Di Maria, the most expensive PL player and a great signing. However, the formation doesn't play to his strengths because it lacks wingers. Despite this and his high price, he is a truly exceptional player, something United lacked last season.

Blind, can play at CM, CB or LB and worth his fee. Intelligent and skilled, he will be played as a defensive midfielder and will excel. Might also play centre back depending on how Phil Jones does.

Falcao, there to replace RVP for a season. I think he's here because Wilson isn't quite ready yet. His arrival will displace some players but he should provide a boost for the season.

All these players coming in means the squad will change, we haven't seen United and the new signings in action properly yet because of work permits or injuries but that will change and some issues will be solved. However, the new players will take some time to gel with each other. Without injuries I'd play 4-2-3-1 of De Gea, Rafael, Jones, Rojo, Shaw, Herrera, Rooney (yes as a CM), Januzaj, Mata, Di Maria, Falcao. Subs: Lindegaard, Blind, Smalling, Carrick, Fellaini, Wilson, RVP.

As for your picks of Hummels and Vidal, Hummels isn't coming mate, he never was. He wants to stay at Dortmund, his name was linked with United because he'd be perfect for us but there's nothing to it and I wish there was. As for Vidal, his agent is the one who has been stirring things up. True that United need a great midfielder but it's best to save that fee for Strootman. Besides, if you notice my formation I'd play Rooney in the role Vidal would have taken, Rooney has proven he can score from midfield and he gets lots of assists too. Since we've got a lot of strikers and only a few slots he should be put somewhere his lack of pace doesn't hamper the team too much.

Thank God for transfer deadline day, distract me from all the other nonsense going around atm.

Arsenal fan here, why couldn't Arsene get Falcao for a season? Oh yea that's right, he signs people at glacial speeds. Though it sounds like as Falcao is going to Old Trafford, Welbeck might be coming to The Carpet, would of preferred Hernandez, but oh well, looks like we'll be finishing top 4 by the skin of teeth yet again. Also would of liked Khedira and Fabregas. And maybe got shot of Ozil and got a big boost to our defence but oh well, kinda expected this going in.

I see football is not so popular on The Escapist...maybe I should of mentioned a certain some one in the title. lol

Well it was finaly confirmed in Fergie time...phew was getting worried. Falcao is now a United player!

The down side is that they let Welbeck go to Arsenal, which really smarts considering the whole Vermalen thing, I hope he is as inconsistent for them as he was for us. Sadly I think he will be very good for them with proper game time and playing as a striker. Oh well.

Very surprised we didn't get a CB of any note, Rojo may be very good but it's also a gamble, he doesn't have the experience (yet) and should be 1 for for the future that could be nurtured over the next few seasons in an already strong defence which United just don't have at the moment. Speaking of which...

Van Gaal has to abandon this stupid 3 at the back idea, it's just not working aswell as being woefully short on bodies and quality for it suceed. Looking at the signings he's made also you'd have to assume that he's going to, you can't play Di Maria as a wing back, you can't fit that many attacking players into that system so I think he will go with the diamond.

Blind is a great signing and a reasonable price, looking forward to seeing him play, hoping him and Van Persie will create a few more stunning headers. lol

As for Hummels and Vidal I never really expected them to come, i've wanted Hummels at United for a couple of years (always been in my FM team) and he would of been perfect for us, I did get my hopes up a bit until they made him captain, knew it definitely wasn't happening after that. Vidal on the other hand was so strongly linked that there must of been something in it, would love to know the story behind it all, he would of been amazing.

I think that if we get into Europe next season we will sign Falcao full time and Van Persie will be on his way out, he is getting on age wise as well as being injury prone, though if they do drop Rooney back into midfield who knows?

Not fussed about missing out on Falcao. More worried about the lack of reinforcement in the defensive midfielder area, Khedira would've been a fantastic pickup IMO and I'm disappointed we didn't get him. Agreed on Fabregas, it hurts to see him pulling the strings for Chelsea, particularly when my mates who follow the EPL support them. At least that sort of role is filled reasonably well with Ozil and Cazorla, helps numb the pain.

...Hi Man U fans, how you doing down there? Whoa...its really high up here, I feel dizzy:)

Ok, so with the Villa being in the mess that it is, I wasn't really expect much from the transfer window but I have been pleasantly surprised. Aly Cissokho and Phillippe Senderos have been good signings so far, strengthening our previously fucking atrocious defence. Add to that Alan Hutton who has been allowed back into the team and is playing his arse off for the cause. Not great players, but they are a definite improvement on what we had in Cieran Clark and Nick "Own Goal and penalty conceder" Barker (man, I hate him).

Kieran Richardson also seems like decent signing and Sanchez seems like a good signing too but we've not seen much of him yet.

Yeah, we signed Joe Cole. Who played one friendly I think and has been injured ever since. Good old Joe Cole.

Add to that we didn't sell our best players in the window, like Vlaar (who seems to have found his soulmate in Senderos), Benteke, Delph, Kozak and Guzan and shifted some deadwood and allowed some previously exiled players back into the squad. I think we have done alright.

Also, we have signed Tom Cleverley on loan...stop laughing Man U fans...I think this has been a clever bit of business for us. It looked like we were going to sign him until he decided that money was more important than regular football and rebuilding his career and the deal fell through. Or so it seemed and this is where I think we've been clever. If he is as shit as people say he is, he can be dropped and shipped back to Man U at the end of the season without having his extortionate wage demands on our books. However, if he is good and he likes playing for us, then we can talk about a permanent move. I'm going to give the lad a chance.

I think the main thing this season is avoiding yet another relegation battle...you wouldn't realise how tiresome they are, Man U fans...I would like a comfortable mid table finish and then finding a new owner who can afford to fund us next Summer. But I am optimistic about this season (but then I was last season) we have a tough run of games coming up, but I don't see us struggling like we have in the last 4 seasons.

News that Borini is going to QPR instead of Sunderland.
Luckily he didn't go anywere!
I think he can be a good one to use as a sub and in the Cup games!
I also think he has potential to become good.

As for both of you (the ones I quoted)

Say "Man U fans" again, I dare you, I double dare you m- *ahem* I saw an opportunity and all that. Don't worry about the dizziness of being up there, you'll be on your way back down soon, for your sake I hope you have something solid and sturdy to stand on when you do because your past couple of seasons have been a bit... rickety. Then again some teams like Norwich and Fulham bring a whole new meaning to that idea.

See what you need is Benteke to stay injury free and for you lot to keep tight at the back. Most important of all Aston Villa need a bit more organisation which I think they're going to get with their new signings and Roy Keane threatening to murder them if they make mistakes. As for Cleverley the loan is probably exactly what he needs, Manchester United is beyond his level and his confidence is completely gone too so time at another club is the only way back for him.

You'll probably end up mid-table, probably finish no lower than 14th and have a surprising game where you take a scalp, perhaps Arsenal again. After all, there are some teams in the league that would certainly have gone down last season were it not for the complete lack of quality in the relegated teams, West Brom and Sunderland are in the PL because of the failings of others, not their own success.

So good luck, because there's really nothing that dislikeable about Aston Villa so I bear you no ill will.

You sure about Borini? I rather think Lambert will keep him out of the team and I get the impression Liverpool would like to have sold him and pocketed a few million more. Still, at his age there is potential to develop and to score goals for Sunderland (when they struggled so) requires some talent. Side note, I'd like to know your speculation on the Remy medical, that looked like a sure deal that hit a tree and provided few details.

Oh and Balotelli looks dangerous from his first game back, granted it was vs the Spurs defence and he didn't actually score but he got a few shots and seems to be trying to re-settle in the Premier League, give him a few more games and he'll be up and scoring I think, your opinion?

Borini and Mario
Well we did do some business this summer :p
Not gonna cover it all but in short, it's too early to say if we "did a Spurs", but I don't think we have.
A shame Agger went though :/

On Borini I actually think he has potential based on his earlier career in Roma and what he showed last season on loan. We could've cashed in the same amount we bought him for but at the age of 22(?) I believe he can develop a lot, even just in training, with the people he gets to train with. I think that is a part of why he wants to stay, hopefully he can get some gametime and show he has what it takes.
Borini and Lambert are two very different strikers so I think that will also bring in option, especially in cup games they will be important if we are to challenge on all 4 fronts as Rodgers claims.

Mario was very active in his first game, defending on both sides and still being good up front. Sure he should've scored and on a good day he would've had 3 goals. The first header being the best chance, when that free and at the back post you're supposed to head the ball towards the same post it is coming from, using the balls pace to get more power on it and since the keeper is already moving towards you it will be hard for him to suddenly change direction :)

On the Remy thing, that is a hard one for someone not involved :/
I mean he has a hearth condition and I think either the doctor said to LFC there's a chance this and this will happen to him due to the illness. Or then LFC have told the doctor, here's a list of suff you shall check for in a player, if he has any of them he won't be allowed to join.
I think the economical risk of having a player with an illness that doesn't make him a injury prone player, but that is a health hazard always there lurking behind the corner, is just a risk LFC are not willing to take.
But that's all just speculation from my side.
