So after all the hype for Black Ops, i've gotten pretty fucking sick of it. Its generic, its unoriginal, and its the fucking same game as every other Call of Duty game. If someone sat me down in front of it and told me it was Modern Warfare 2, i would only notice i was being tricked a few hours in when i saw the zombie mode on the main menu. And even that was just copy pasted from WaW. Undoubtfully 99% of you are fanboys coming to rip on me because i specifically put dont come in the title, so feel free to leave a comment. But if there are any other survivers of the world wide pandemic that is idiocracy, feel free to leave a refreshing comment.

Wait. So, you don't like something and then stated it as if it was fact? Which wouldn't be a massive deal as a post, but to make a thread?

Because im making the thread to see what other people think of my opinion, see if anyone agrees or disagrees, and for them to state their own opinion if they dont agree. Seems like a good thread to me.

Actually, I agree with you, and I expect a few others to do the same. Your depiction of the CoD is, in my opinion, very accurate.
But in reality, threads like these are not needed. I do dislike the CoD franchise, but I agree that these threads are not needed.

This is essentially troll bait.

I had fun with black ops, same as I did with all the other CoD games. However that fun with CoD is always short lived. Finish the single player, mess with the multi for a few hours then move on back to one of my games I play more frequently. They are the same game essentially, but a refresing 20 or so hours with new levels and what not are still pretty good. Why change what works right?

Oddly enough, the way you defend your dislike of BlOps is eerily similiar as to the way fanboys defend their love of it.

No, it's a terrible thread. Ranting on something on the internet is pointless. And what opinions? The title of the fucking thread states that fanboys should stay away, what are they not allowed to post what they believe on the issue? And the last statement of the first reply regarding "idiocracy" (which isn't even a word by the way). We're idiots because we enjoy playing a video game? Calling someone an idiot immediately takes away all credibility as a blogger (and what little you had) away. Why not have a thread about something we haven't heard before?

I'm not planning on buying it for the simple reason that it just doesn't interest me.
I want a decent length and interesting campaign, the novelty of CoD multiplayer wears off surprisingly quickly (at least for me anyway).
I paid £40 for Modern Warfare 2, and never felt more ripped off in my life, so I see no reason why I should even consider this game.

meh its just not that good. Theyve all been the same with only dumb changes since CoD 4. I loved that game but i have a feeling its only nostalgia that makes it great. And when i play it now its not the same because the community is so small.

You'd have to be pretty fucking gullible to think a game which repeatedly states the date of your missions taking place at various times through the 60s/70s was 'Modern' warfare, but, ok.

So.. Do you want us to defend Black Ops or agree with you? Going as someone who enjoyed it (do not read that as OMFGBESTGAMEEVAR) I'll defend it.

This concept of buying it being suckered into the mainstream gaming trend is bullshit. It's a fun, well-made title. Is it groundbreaking? Fuck no, but if I want to play something mind-numbing and purely enjoyable for an hour or two, Black Ops is a damn good choice. Calling it an 'idiocracy' (I'm presuming you mean idiotic, because that sure as hell is not a word) is completely stupid and arbitrary. Did you tell everyone who went and saw Avatar stupid and a sucker because they went to see it? No, and it's the same principle. The Call of Duty series is something that expands to many gamers, and while it's nowhere near the best series ever and I would never try and argue it to be of artistic merit, it's an enjoyable game. People like enjoyable experiences. Not everything has to be some kind of massive statement on emotion and culture.

Fuck, people like you who go on about how the 'Mainstream gaming culture is wrong and anyone who buys into it is stupid' piss me off. It's worse than film snobs or music purists. Grow the fuck up.
See, your putting words in my mouth. Theres nothing wrong with mainstream gaming, whats wrong is someone buying a bad game BECAUSE of mainstream gaming, in the same way that a massive ice cream cake is good, but throwing up because you ate the whole thing is bad. I like dead rising and fifa and games as such, even though they are very mainstream. I am just saying that Black Ops particulary is a bad game, and relies on that mainstream to make sales.

I said it was the same game, not the same time period. Give Call of Duty 7 a space background 200 years into the future and call it a space shooter, but it doesnt change the fact that its the same game, even if it pretends to be in a different time period.

Intriguing. The tone of your post automatically suggests that all of those arriving in favour of Blops are fanboys, yet you claim to want 'refreshing comments', by which I can only assume you mean statements on both sides of the argument. Additionally, by starting a thread with a title encouraging only people with your opinion to join, there is a definite stifling of discussion (seriously, go back and read what you've written!)

I regret to inform you that I have not refused to buy Blops, although I will agree, that as with any game developed as part of a series, it borrowns heavily from its predecessors. However, what it offers is, overall, a vastly more polished version of the crazy multiplayer the series has thus far boasted, and a highly entertaining campaign (in my opinion, which is no more or less valid than your own).

My main objection is the automatic assumption that anyone disagreeing with you is a fanboy, for 2 different reasons. 1) Plenty of people enjoy the game (and indeed the CoD series) without reaching the irrational peaks of fanboyism, and 2) fanboy isn't a very PC term, given that I know at least 3 girls who play the game.

tl;dr - people are entitled to opinions, even if they're different to your own. Also, women exist :p

Irony five!

Anyway, insulting people who like a game just for liking it is a dick move.

And rant threads get locked. Plus the game was at least average. Better than a few other shooters I could name.
