Following on from my previous Thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.243515-My-Predicament?page=1], there were a few people who asked me to let them know what's happening with the whole situation. Since this was a while ago and I can't remember who to PM; I'll just put up this thread.

I've decided to take the experimental surgery and the date is set for the 17th of Febuary. I'm leaving for Sydney tomorrow and won't have access to a computer so I'm posting this now.
I'll update this thread with the results of the operation sometime after the 17th; if I don't then you can probably guess what happened yourself.

For discussion value: Would you ever be willing to gamble with your life the way I am?

To answer your question, I'm not sure. I don't think I could really answer that that from my perspective.

That being said I mostly just want to wish you luck. Hang in there man. :)

I don't think I'd ever be able to make a decision like that. Regardless, good luck.

Hell no... Everyone likes to believe that they would do "what is right" even when faced with death, like possibly saving a life or further advancing medical research like your situation; but that's not how it is. It only gets scary when it actually happens, then you find it hard to make the decision. I'm pretty damn scared of death, and even though I'm one that would help support scientific or medical endeavors, I would much rather go with the safer, more practiced procedure and have a higher chance of living.

Before going into surgery, I would imagine would be terrifying. Before you fall asleep for the surgery, you would very well know that those could be the last moments of your life...

I saw the first thread, and I'm going to repeat what I said there: Good luck. This takes an incredible amount of courage that most people wouldn't be able to manage. I really hope the surgery works out for you.

Again, good luck.

To answer your question, I don't know if I could gamble like that. I wish you the best of luck and hope everything goes as planned, or better. That's an incredible risk and something nobody deserves to have to deal with at suck a young age, but I wish you all the best. =^_^=

That's heavy man, you must be pretty brave to be able to post stuff about you're condition so openly to everyone. I have faith that the surgeon is a trained professional and will perform the surgery just fine. They'll wheel you out of the front doors of the hospital a week later and it will be like something out of bad soap opera finale where everything is finally at peace.

Wow, I definitely wouldn't have the balls to do that. You've handled this whole thing pretty maturely and openly and I really admire that. You're a pretty singular fellow.

Good luck, man.
