Well I just got kicked for the first time from a match of TF2. I wasn't being a jerk or anything. It was because my parents forced me to go AFK for like 10 min to do something stupid like ask me how to unzip a file or tell me that video games will rot my brains. And they do this all the time and they don't care that it pisses off my team because they are down one spy checker.
A game is something to entertain. But is it fair that for a game that I paid for, I am not allowed to be entertained by because of some stupid menial task I'm asked to do?
Now Escapist I ask you, anything similar happen to you and how you feel about it?

Me being pissed: If this keeps going, I might just have to sell my PC and all games and then pay back my parents even though it was a Xmas present, because they threatened to instate a pay back for anything that is not necessary to life over $50 house law.
Pricetag: about $2000

EDIT: Please lock this topic, I always regret writing them, even if it is a good thread like my If Jack Thompson ran the industy topic, I feel stupid

EDIT AGAIN: I would really like you guys criticizing/sympathizing with my situation, my life doesn't matter I really needed to vent. I want to know your experiences

That is just... ridiculous. I say you protest and completely ignore them when you're in a match.

According to your profile, you'd be about 15 or 16. Sorry dude, looks like your parents make the rules.

To OP.

If this is just casual play, then live and let live, its your parents household, they pay the bills for your food, electric, internet, etc. Your best bet to get un-interupted play time, is to make sure all chores/tasks are done before you start gaming. Or to game when they are busy/out (for example, if they watch a movie or a 1 hour long programme.)

If its a proper clan match, try explaining to them that its like a sports match (They can't go to you in the middle of a football match and take you off for 10 minutes while you do whatever), agree that you wont play that day/week any other times, if they allow you un-interupted play for the match/training.

But on the whole, chill out, you're still a kid living at home, as my parents use to say to me "It's my way or the high way."

My family knows enough to not make these problems for me. Only sucks when at my dad's when we order pizza he comes when In in the middle of a match, but thats something different.

I'll say. It reminds me of how a friend's parents started making him pay rent to live in his own house. I don't know how/why parents do this kind of crap to their kids.

My parents do the same thing they do not give a crap if I am playing with other people, they still force me off such as when I am in a dungeon group for WoW.I wait two hours to get in this group and after we start I am told to do a long and boring task such as mopping the floor.

Chores/tasks are assigned as it comes to them. Uninterrupted, I wish, they always drag me everywhere. Looks like it's browser games for me. And possibly the end of posting on the Escapist.

Just do what your parents say. Or be like me and confine yourself from your family so that can't get to you.

Depends on the age, and what the kid is doing. I'm 22, lived away for 4 years but now back at home and going to the local University, so paying £50 a week rent to my parents, bills inclusive, but effectively do what I want, as long as I don't interupt the normal flow of the house.

What people don't realise is that parents OWN the house, and they OWN the internet and they OWN the electricity. If you don't want to pay rent or bills, then you will be asked to do chores, its not like they havent paid enough for you already for clothes/food for the whole of your life.

(Sad thing is, roll back a while and I'd complain same as you guys are now, with age comes wisdom and all that jazz!)

In that case, its the cat and mouse game of pre-emptively doing chores ;)

I've started doing it that I'll do the occational random extra thing, get a lil bit of praise, and they leave me alone for a while.

Well I would have to mess it up then fix it for preemptive work. And then it would be messed up again anyway, so I did unnecessary work, and praise isn't common in my household. And I pay for a lot of things, well I would if they didn't charge me for all of my systems games included.

Now seriously stop being sympathetic or scolding me, it doesn't matter anymore. I would please just like your stories no strings attached

Get a small job, its good for you.

I have been lucky enoughto have a smart mother concerning economics (she works 24h/week. no partner we live in a decent apartment, 10mbit dsl. bills paid, dvd recorde bluray player etc etc) and she allways thought me to take care off myself.

I used to, and still hate when she interupts me. but if its really important shell leave me alone if I ask beforehand. normally I help her though.

just FYI: 19, part time working, restarting school in august.

you sir, are a whiney *****. If you don't like that Mummy makes you step away from the game to help her out in her own home, you suck it up. unless you pay rent, you are in a dictatorship. Deal

Oh I will help, but it gets annoying when in a span of 15 minutes, I've been playing 5. And I don't know when they'll ask me to do something, every order is random. And I've been saying that you guys should stop worrying about me, I just want to hear your stories.

Plus I technically am paying rent, just it's been repayment for the last 12 years of gifts I receive, or occasionally bought. I don't have the money because I don't have a job. I don't have a job because I can not legally drive yet. I cannot legally drive because I do not have the required vision numbers to see. My glasses won't come in for a month.
Oh and they charge interest

It's just a game. Seriously... I'm sure your team would understand that you have to go away for a bit. There's no need to be mad. There are other times for games and winning. All you've got to do is accept it. If you don't accept it, what do you gain by being angry? I've been though that a lot, but it doesn't anger me...
I'm 19 by the way, but things like this have happened often throughout my life. Meh. Big deal.

Tell your parents to go screw them selves. Also don't give them a dime. They are going to inconvenience you that much then threaten you. You should tell them that you shouldn't threaten people that are helping you at their convenience. Also tell them that you want to have fun playing games too, and that you don't give a shit about their false logic, and that your not there personal customer service. The first thing will fall flat at first but, they may actually take the message. They probably won't tell you so though. Although you want to say this without cursing.

Try to explain to them the situation and to work something out. Your parents may understand back off. (Best case scenario)

If they are like my parents, tell them to shut up and continue playing. They will not listen for they are too retard and close minded to listen to a fucking thing. They will also make empty lies at prove their point. Again if they are like this, it's useless. You life will suck, and probably already do. Wait until you move out to have a life. (worst case scenario)

THIS IS MY FUCKING LIFE! I CAN'T DO A DAMN THING THAT OTHER MY AGE DO! MY LIFE FUCKING SUCKS AND I'M GOING INSANE! I HAVE NO FRIENDS THAT I HANG OUT WITH FOR I HAVE TO GO IN AT 10 ON WEEKENDS! I'M ALSO 16 YEARS OLD! I'M ALSO TOLD I'M ALWAYS DOING SOMETHING WRONG, THAT I'M GOING TO FAIL, AND THE MESSAGE THEY GIVE ACROSS THAT I CAN'T DO A DAMN THING RIGHT! ALSO MY DAD ALWAYS CALLS ME GAY (I'M NOT)! I DON'T GET A FUCKING LIFE, AND I COULD RANT FOR HOURS! I'm not going to for it's useless, and yes I'm screaming every thing in caps.
