Forever War Film?

So i've heard a rumor off one of my friends that there is a planend film based on the book Forever War by Joe Haldeman. Was wondering if any one could shed some light on this rumor, such as director, ETA and the such?

But the most important question i have, since i'm not very good with directors, will the apparent director ruin the book or will he do it justice?

Its a great book that would make a good film with a smart director and a brave studio.

Well i guess so ... as there are sequels ... and it seems to be the in thing for movies at the moment.
