Ex-Brunswick DA arrested on charges linked to Ahmaud Arbery death investigation
GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – Authorities have arrested former Brunswick District Attorney Jackie Johnson on charges related to the investigation into Ahmaud Arbery’s death. Johnson was pr…

To summarize: last year, a man named Ahmaud Arbery was "citizen arrested" and shot by two other men, Greg McMichael and Travis McMichael, while he was running in their neighborhood. As it turns out, the DA at the time, Jackie Johnson, lost her bid for re-election due in part to criticism over her office's handling of the situation. That may have been an understatement, given she was indicted Thursday on counts of violation of oath of an officer (a felony charge), as well as obstruction of an officer. Essentially, she's being accused of not just being negligent, but actively hindering the investigation into the shooting. The indictment alleges that Johnson showed "favor and affection" for Greg McMichael and "did knowingly and willfully" hinder cops from arresting Travis McMichael.
If this is true, then yay, good, she got punished for it. Boo, it happened after she was already out of office for being at the least incompetent, and still shows just how messed up the legal system is that the DA (District Attorney, in case the abbreviation isn't clear to everyone) can screw with the actual ongoing investigation, before a trial is even set.
