Forum thread box on Escapist front-page

If it's been posted about already, I can't find any info but as a regular to this site for many years, I'm very disappointed that the forum threads box that was on the right of the home page all these years is gone. I tested it in three different browsers. The whole time I've visited here that box has been my gateway to the Escapist community. It's been my way of seeing what's currently being discussed, being a topical reflection of the current state of the games, the gaming industry and the thoughts of this site's users.

Why did this box go? I cannot express just how horrible a change it is. It's like having the door shut on this site. Before I would swing past and see what's what, with the ability to jump straight into the threads I'm interested in. Now that's gone, the site is silent, there are no discussions there to jump into. If anything, I wanted to suggest *improving* the box such that thread titles weren't cut off after the all-too-short character limit.

To site staff, I beseech you to bring back the thread box. As a long time regular and a gamer for whom the Escapist is his main site for community, news and editorial, this is the single-worst change to the site (and I'm including losing Jim, Lisa, Robert Rath, Shamus Young, the LRR guys in that!). Please restore it to the home page, having it reflect only Gaming and Off-Topic forums. I feel completely cut off from the Escapist site and community without it and I can't be the only one.

I was told by Barbas that they're working on getting it back up. It was allowing access to sections of the forum that were only for pub club members. Once they figure that out, it'll be back up... According to all the information.

Specifically it showed "Wild West" topics which are exempt from most rules, so having that on the front page was worrisome, and also having it be dominated by topics many people cant even access would likely cause issues.

Something about cowboys and outlaws and I think dank memes were involved. Anyway, its a lost and complicated story and well...Gabby Hayes is heavily involved.

It would have been nice if they had left a message in its place to let people know what the hell was going on. Simply removing a longstanding feature without explanation is worrisome, especially if no other visual changes can be observed.

It's ultimately the fault of the person who decided to introduce the Wild West forum without knowing how to remove posts from only one forum instead of all forums.
