Buonas dias, muchachos! It's a good time for cheap-ass game deals. Sales everywhere. But you can't beat free. Today, for you:

[HEADING=2]Outcast: Second Contact [https://www.humblebundle.com/store/outcast-second-contact][/HEADING]

Available for free at Humble until November 24th, 10AM Pacific Time, but it does require being subscribed to the Humble newsletter. Buuuuuuuut on the other hand, the game is also DRM-free.

Never played this, or the original, but I remember an old friend couldn't shut up about it. Ah, simpler times. Getting nostalgia pangs now.

Anyway, my work here is done, so have at it!

I was waiting to see if you posted this one. I actually found it independently. I already own it on Steam and GoG, both the original and this remaster.

This particular game has a very special place in my heart. It released in '99 at a very difficult time in my life. It was the innovative big title of the day, utterly unique, completely brilliant and helped me through a rather low point in life. More than that, the issues I had with the game's copy protection had me on the phone to Infogrames (the company now known as Atari) customer support. The guy there went above and beyond in helping when I explained my whole thing. I got a new copy of the game discs (with the copy protection issue sorted) and a whole "care pack" of sorts. He included loads of merchandise for me of the game that I still have somewhere. It meant a lot to me to have such great service that to this day I still feel fondly about the company (despite, let's be honest, Infogrames/Atari are a bit crap).

The voxels, the orchestrated score, the story, the weapons and combat, the way even the save system was incorporated "in-universe" (progress was saved using a Gamsaav Crystal and completely explained in-lore). It was funny, emotional, action packed, a sensational sci-fi adventure. I backed the kickstarter to get a sequel made but it sadly didn't meet it's funding goal. I love this game and have nothing negative to say about it. It is a magnificent game, certainly by the standards of the day. I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone who has yet to play it or say enough positive things about it.

Thank you as ever for your eternal vigil. I would send you a banana, but I was attacked by a ninja who took the fruit in exchange for my life.
