Was Sims4 the one that was just Sims3 with half the content in DLCs?
Sims 4 has many quality of life improvements (like talking and doing stuff at the same time, sims squeezing past each other etc.) and one of the best character creators to date. It is, however, much smaller in scope then Sims 3, ditching the open world neighborhoods, only loading up one lot at a time (which does have the added bonus of the game not running like it was stuck in molasses) and only recently introducing abroad travel. The on-release content was bare bones, even when compared to Sims 3 at release, but as it stands right now a base Sims 4 is about comparable to a base Sims 3 in terms of content.

This take me back to the different The Sims releases.

The Sims: didn't know about it until my sister wanted it and convinced my parents to purchase a copy.

The Sims 2: was aware beforehand that it was forthcoming and considered the switch to full 3D to be sufficient for it to be worth it, aside from the various improvements (aging sims, more advanced architecture) that would've been impossible to do in the first game, so the engine switch was worth it.

The Sims 3: never played, but I saw enough promotional material to realize they had improved two major niggles from The Sims 2: the fact that leaving the house lot was a major hurdle and that each lot aged independently, which could lead to absurd situations where someone had reached Elder age while their parents where still in the Adult age. Changes that overall makes the world feel more connected.

The Sims 4: saw only some promotional material. The thing that struck me the most was that they had removed the major improvement of The Sims 3, since they went back to the interconnectedness formula used in The Sims and The Sims 3. That alone was enough for me to be very doubtful about it, and when the tech used indicated that it was started as a mobile title I became only more so.

Not that there's anything inherently wrong with using tech intended for mobile when making PC titles, it's just that it in combination with what I saw as a step backwards was enough to suspect it was a scrambled together project intended as a mobile spin-off.

Nonetheless, it could still be fun. I grabbed a free copy, thanks for the tip.

I'm tempted....but I also played the first one for about 3 days(stopping only to eat and sleep) and decided it was far too addictive for me to keep playing. Haven't touched the series since.

So probably pass.

Appreciate it. Wasn't ever too interested in the fourth installment when I found out that the open-world environment was axed for The Sims 4, but it took five seconds to add it to my account, so why not? Played 3 a bit, and enjoyed being able to walk to the gym, for example, and work out.

I created an Origin account to play Apex Legends. I played it for all of 5 minutes before giving up, so I feel you.
