Not sure if I forgot this was a thing or if I never knew it was a thing, but interesting nonetheless. With the fiasco that was the GitS casting*, I can't help but think that casting western actors would for an anime adaptation would actually have made sense here and made the movie better.

*I have no opinion's the casting, I merely acknowledge it has been subject to criticism.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Well, it would have made more sense to have western actors since most of full metal takes place in essentially Europe. But, I don't think this one is aimed at as much of an international release as GitS is. I think its mostly domestic.

Too much of an teaser for me to form an opinion on it. I mean we don't even see Eric face!

I didn't think the effects themselves looked that awful. Serviceable maybe. The issue is that it feels like a very well produced fan film, rather than a product of talent and vision that oozes an aesthetic from every pore. Each scene felt like it was built around a single effect that they were counting each dollar to produce, and lacked any ambient effects to help soften the stark difference between shitty set and cgi. The actual costumes look really bad, which is unfortunate, because the environmental shots weren't awful, but lacked the aforementioned ambient effects that would have given them a needed sense of style.

The blond Japanese Eric looks ridiculous and the whole thing has a cheapness about it. I don't know how the Japanese can watch all these shitty looking adaptations. Japan used to be cool.
EDIT: I linked the wrong video. Its fixed now.

Hey......at least its not as bad as >_> <_<

It is being distributed by Warner Bros [https://myanimelist.net/news/46159033], so even if it has a limited release, I am guessing they are counting on showing it on places outside of Japan.

And I agree that it looks cheap. Everything from the special effects to the pop idol with a wig attached to his head makes it look like it was made by a group of amateurs that got to produce something for a TV show and then got blown up to movie screen sizes due to brand recognition. Like comparing a Broadway play with a high school rendition... or, you know, like 90% of all Japanese anime that got turned into live-action movies.

And the comparison to GitS seems inevitable in this case. It has the same problems with the plot, of characters that are clearly of an specific ethnic group but the film makers decided to change them to appeal to their intended audiences.

I cannot imagine the Furor without Ed Blaylock doing his voice...

Too short for me to really say much about it.
