Today, on my iPod I got Game Dev Story and instantly I have become addicted. The game is simple, you hire new employers or upgrade them and you make games which various things can happen during there processes.

Just a short story of when I was playing.

For a while, after my 5 million and 4 million game hits, I keep releasing mediorce game one after another, so I decided to release a sequel to my 4 million hit, Trinity Shot, a Robot Shooter and I got a similar mediocre results. But then I tried again and instantly got a hit with #5, and then #6 both with 5.6 million sold.

Then I make #7 and instantly got high review scores and then sold 11.4 million.

There was a lot of tension despite the simple structure of the game and the somewhat casual feel. It was really exciting.

So what little fun titles have you been enjoying lately?

Edit: By little games I mean something off of PSN, Steam, appstore, or XBL that aren't full retail games. Indie games, and such.

I played K.O.L.M. the other day. That was certainly fun, and it falls within the accepted definition of "little". So I'm going to go out on a limb and call it a fun little game. Try it out if you like Metroidvanias.

I just started playing Uplink again, what with that Humble Bundle and everything. Most damn immersive game I've ever played.

Edit: Never mind. Not sure about definition of "little". plz2clarify?

Edit 2: Ah, I see. Okay, here's a few games I happen to be enjoying (in order, a platformer, a 16-bit JRPG and a Japanese...thing). All less than five dollars and all pretty good (for the price/budget, anyway.)

Dungeon Defenders, dunno if it's considered a small game but I like to play it when I have nothing do it.

I just bought the Capcom Collections on PSP, which have a bunch of little games, most of which are enjoyable.

Does that count?

There's a flash game called Class 3 Outbreak that uses Google Maps. You can pretty much zoom in on anywhere in the world Google Maps has taken aerial photos of and use it as a top-down zombi apocalypse survival map. You can log in with Facebook or...Myspace I think, and use any of your friends as two other survivors.

It's actually quite fun, I ran around my neighborhood with my friends searching houses and ended up making it over about two blocks before we got ganked by the horde. Then I decided I'd run around in some dumpy Australian town, and then someplace in Japan.

Orcs Must Die!

Apart from the rather annoying protagonist, its one of the best tower defense games ever. I just wish there were more levels.

SpaceChem is pretty awesome. Just don't try and play it without your head in the game, or it'll own your soul. Also, while it's not tiny, I've gotta give some recognition to Vindictus. The level repetition thing can be a bit tedious, but seeing as it free ninety-nine it'd be unseemly to complain.

Agreed, and I usually hate tower defense games. Aside from a little bit of Frozen Synapse and Orcs I've only been playing BF3 and a little bit of Oblivion (I almost have it modded into an enjoyable game).

The Impossible Game... I died 573 times on the first level and I still haven't beaten the FIRST level. Good for breaks from Skyrim though.

I haven't really been playing any games like that recently, but that game you're playing reminds me of this game I used to play a long time ago. You're a movie producer, and you make a movie that hopefully will be successful and make as much money as possible. You manage every aspect of it, from creating the plot and choosing cast and crew, to marketing and distribution. It was totally text-based, and really fun.
