Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard is the game which brought the idea for this thread into my mind. We don't really see any legitimatly funny games these days, which is a shame, because if more games had a sense of humor, I'm pretty sure many of their flaws would be overlooked. I think the best example of this would be House of the Dead: Overkill, a game that is so incredibly campy, I completely forgot I was playing a rail shooter.

My question is, what do you think is the funniest game of all time? It doesn't necessarily have to be a good game, just a game which left you laughing out loud (that's right, I refuse to use "lol" bitches!)

Eat Lead. Seriously I don't think I've ever laughed that hard at a game ever. And I also agree with what you said about overlooking flaws because even though the controls are awful and that the game itself really isn't that fun, I enjoyed playing the game because it made me laugh.

That or Team Fortress 2. There are little jokes all over the place and it's very subtle but hilarious.

Portal, Saint's row 2, Matt Hazard, House of the Dead Overkill, Mass Effect (thank you Wrex and Ashley) and sometimes Dead Rising.

I have to say Psychonauts, as it is one of the few games where I have literally laughed-out-loud, and it is definetly one of the best times I've had with a game.

Yeah, it's funny that most people don't recognize TF2 for the comedic genius that it is. It approaches team based action with a sense of childish glee that leaves me giggling through the entire game.

Who DIDN'T laugh when they first heard the soldier yell "Fire, fire, FIRE!"

I don't think a game has ever made me laugh out loud.

Portal was funny. Not just because of "The Cake is a lie" either.

TF2 and Timesplitters were also funny.

Sam & Max made me laugh at stupid puns.

Any game you play with friends and decide to just mess about is funny.

G-Mod aswell =]

Sam & Max is one I find genius in the comedy department. It's a shame I'm too thick to play the game properly.
And the Team Fortress 2 dialogue is "MUCH LULZ"!

House of the Dead: Overkill is brimming with too much satire that it actually became funny and painful at the same time.

The funniest games I've played are:

Conker's Bad Fur Day
Postal 1 and 2 (Also, the movie was fucking terrible)
House of the Dead: Overkill
And any of the Ace Attorney games.

I'm gonna extend this to anything by Tim Schafer.

There are a lot of games with a great sense of humor out there, but video gameplay and comedy are natural enemies- gameplay is repetitive by nature. Even great the least repetitive gameplay is still the same basic thing with slight changes throughout. A joke stops being funny after a few times.

This is why there aren't really many "true" comedy games, just games with funny stories.

YES a million times over! As far as game developers go, Tim Schafer probably has the best sense of humor, a trait which he reflects so well in all his games.
