Frankly, I've been disappointed with the comedy genre of movies these days.
I mean, the hangover was all fine and dandy, but I didn't find it incredibly funny.
So I ask of you Escapist community, what movie will truly have me rolling on the ground laughing?

Oh that's tough...

Top ones:

Dude, Where's my car?
Life of Brian
Shaun of the Dead
American Pie 2
And if they count. All the Futurama films.

To me it's either Monty Python and the Holy Grail or Life of Brian. Followed closely by Young Frankenstein and Best in Show.

Funniest movie I've ever seen, when i first saw it, was Airplane. Now when I watch it its still funny, but not quite the same.

And Anchorman. I'm sorry, but its just a damn funny film.

I do like This is Spinal Tap too, that has the funniest single moment (the miniature stonehenge and midgets dancing)

The funniest movie I've seen so far is probably Duck Soup. Ya gotta love the Marx Bros.

The Monty Python films are a work of pure genius, especially Life of Brian imo.

A close second has got to be Spinal Tap, with whom I can turn my amp up to 11 over and over and still truly roll on the floor laughing.

That's really tough to say for certain, cause it ALWAYS changes for me. Funny movies that have come out recently that I enjoy thoroughly are:

Hotrod-I will NEVER turn down the chance to watch this movie

Hamlet 2- Written by the same woman as Hotrod, I've seen it about 20 times

Stepbrothers- Funnier than Anchorman IMO, if only for John C. Reilly doing his first leading role in a comedy movie. I love that guy. Go Dr. Steve Brule!

You can't realistically list any Monty Python movies as the funniest, cause each is an instant classic. No one movie is better than the others, they're all great, beyond classification.

Thanks, these are fantastic. Kudos to the people who put Hot Fuzz, I absolutely love that movie.
Shaun of the Dead was incredible too, those are the type of movies I die for, those super gory, dark comedies. Anchorman was great too.

Any of the Monty Python films.
The Producers, History of the World Part I, Spaceballs.
The Family Guy and Futurama films.
Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead.
The Naked Gun and Airplane! films too.

Anything else slips my mind.

I actually really like Howard the Duck, if you can really qualify that as a comedy? I thought it was funny at least.
