Funniest nation?

America has been declared the funniest nation with Spain funniest in Europe and Germany coming in last. Do believe this to be true and why?

Edit: Because this came up, England was ranked 7th funniest and fourth unfunniest, Canada was ranked outside the top 10 of 15. I cannot find a link to the full list so I have no idea where Ireland was ranked

to be honest, i haven't seen anything that too funny come out of england. I mean i guess i can see how people like Monty Python so much but it never made me laugh that hard.

Alright, in all seriousness, I'm American, and I don't really see how our country is the "Funniest" in the world... By what standard are we setting "Funny" anyways? Overall humorous pranks? Movies? Jokes? We all have different tastes.

Really? Go watch the dinner party episode of the American office or any Richard Pryor stand up and tell me American comedy doesn't understand black comedy. I think people just have a problem admitting when America is the best at something

Also in case you say the office is British the original show was in fact British but the American counterpart stopped recreating the British episodes half way through the first season. It has greatly surpassed the original show

Speaking as a proud Australian with English and Middle Eastern heritage, I'd say that Ireland is the funniest country. Don't get me wrong, America has produced some funny stuff and people, I just think the Irish (and the British Isles generally) have produced better, but that's just my opinion (and sense of humour), or how I'd vote.
