well the witcher 3 is pretty damn good at being open world, but it is an rpg and is maybe more story driven than you are looking for.

just cause 2 is a super cheap/good open world game imo

don't know about racers on the pc...on amazon they might have an old disc copy of podracer?

Go back and try Arkham Asylum. Best in that series imo. Less open-world, better pacing and sense of narrative.

After that maybe Deus Ex? 1 or 3. Or Mass Effect 1 or 2. Those are all kinda segmented open world. Especially ME1. Lots of exploration!

On the Racing Game front, I actually like Distance, on Steam.

No other races though, it's just you alone, and when you're in MP. I don't believe there's collision. It's main thing is it's track design, which will have things like lasers that can slice you in half, flying segments, and force you to rotate yourself even though you seem to be magnetically attracted to track. (Which helps, a lot.)

On the topic of shooters? I mostly play Co-op Multiplayer ones. I'm still taking part in an iota of PayDay 2. Killing Floor 2 also has you up against AI. Depth is a competitive one, which is funny as shit. And Dirty Bomb has a lot of that co-op niceness. None of these are open world though, Sorry.

If you liked DAO, I'd recommend the Mass Effect trilogy. ME3 gets a bad rap, but I really liked all three games. They are much better than DA2 & DAI, IMO.

I think you could basically look at any Youtube video that highlights the best games of the year for the last few years and get some good suggestions.

Shadow of Mordor
Wolfenstien: The New Order
Witcher 3
Project Cars
Diablo 3
Heroes of the Storm
League of Legends

Basically anything you could want, you can have on PC.
