So recently, since my PC died thanks to Samsung and RAID 0, I've been playing Race Driver Grid on the PS3.

I like this driving game as it throws you straight into a race, with a reasonable choice of real life vehicles. without faffing around with the cars setup to get those few milliseconds that wouldn't make a difference between first and last place.

I thought, I'd stick it on "Pro Mode", which means that you can't restart a race and you can't use the magical action replay function if you plough into a concrete barrier at 240MPH.

that in itself is grounds for a challenging experience in itself, but on top of "Pro Mode" you have to pick a difficulty of: Easy, Novice, Normal, Serious, Savage & Extreme. Along with that, you have the option of disabling assits like: Traction control, Braking assist & manual gearbox. all but traction controll are off for me.

I thought I'd go for normal to gauge the difficulty, and it was too easy, to which the annoying voice representing you race manager pipes up: "You won those last races too easily, ramp it up a notch!" fair enough, lets go for seriuos.

the next 2 races I came in last and she pipes up again "you came up short in those last 2 events..."

to which my response was..."eat shit *****!"

So whats the deal here, normal is childs play and 1 difficulty up is miles more difficult...whats extreme gonna be like: you start with no wheels! talk about a steep difficulty curve!

I'm all for games with the option of going that lttlie more extreme but,not when you have 6 difficulty levels and the mid range ones are as far apart as london and sydney!

Any other games with a stupid difficulty curve?

Gears of War's insane mode. 2, in particular.

"Wow, you finished the game on hardcore, sponging up those bullets as you go."
"Hell yeah! Now for insane mode!"
"Go get 'em tiger."
*Charge*
"Did I mention that if you get hit by anything more than 2 bullets you die, and have to wait 5 minutes for your health to regenerate? Oh, and wretches can take a bajillion headshots."
"Wait, wha-*splat*"

You had trouble with that? It was as easy as the first.
Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry on the harder modes is just bullshit.
Well, I like precise aiming, and I find that hard to do when my retard AI teammates have stayed behind because they're scared or something, so they enemies all shoot at me, and nobody in my house wants to play because "it's too hard on singleplayer."
They apparently don't realise that it gets easier when you have another not stupid person helping in the battle.
