Hi! Recently, my copy of Black Ops has been acting up. It first started with my screen going black at the end of every match and then evolved into just not being able to be read. This confused me, naturally, as I take very good care of my electronics and gaming discs. I checked the bottom of the disc for any scratches or gouges or anything of that sort and found only small smudges..from my own hand. x_x After 'fixing' this and trying again, I was faced with the same result: Unable to read disc. Other discs (about 25 or so) gave me no trouble.

Naturally, I contacted X-Box via the interbuttz and talked with one of their tech people. They suggested that something might be wrong with my box and that I should go through a list of things I already knew. I told this person about my other games working fine and he/she mentioned that the disc may be damaged..but how? There isn't a scratch on it and it was working just dandy a few days ago! What gives?

A friend of mine is letting me borrow his copy of Black Ops while I figure this out, if I can, and I'd love some input if anyone has any. Cheers! :D

My friend's disc is working perfectly, actually. And it's a 360. I've had the machine since forever, had it fixed like..twice. >_> But Black Ops was the only one to give me problem. Hadn't considered dust inside, but I did blow into the tray area a few times and got diddly for my trouble.

Have you cracked the disc?

Check around the hole for any cracks, as even the tiniest crack or fracture will make the hole larger than it should be, which will mean it won't fit as tightly on the DVD drive's spindle as it's suppose to, which in turn will cause it to slip when the DVD drive spins it and causes disc read errors.
